I will be home from Afghanistan for the month of October and want to get a good weekend of riding in. Here is the information:
: Depart October 15th (Friday) around 5pm. I live in Sachse, TX, so we could all meet at my house and leave from there. The objective here is to get to the campsite Friday night, camp, and then have all day Saturday and most of Sunday to ride. We will return Sunday night.
: Wolfpen Gap just east of Mena, AR
Google Maps claims that is a 4hr drive to Mena, AR from my house.
LOTS of pictures here: http://www.jacobsatvadventures.com/w..._gag_pics.html
Trail picture: http://www.wolfpenatv.com/images/wolfpen-trails2010.jpg
: We will be camping there for two nights, so plan accordingly. Here is the cost:
$22.00 per day with electricity per 3 adults (addl. Tent $13.20 per day)
Extra adults $5.00 per day
All prices include sales tax
Wolfpen Gap ATV Trail system is approximately 50 miles of trail loops located in the Ouachita National Forest.
Trail difficulty ranges from easy to most difficult. Riders beware: Trails marked most difficult are just that (rocky, uneven terrain).
There are no helmet laws in Arkansas, but we do strongly recommend you wear one. Riders can ride double, but are encouraged to not ride on the more difficult trails.
Most ATVs can run all day on one tank of gas, unless you ride to other area outside the Wolfpen trail system.
The trails are in the middle of the forest, so wildlife can be seen everywhere. Bring your camera!
Oversized and mud tires are not recommended because of the rocky terrain. Stock tires are best.
Must have spark arrestor in exhaust.
(I think this is a state law)
Mena/Polk County is a dry county. Log Cabin Liquor is approximately 50 miles from the campground, and is the closest available Arkansas alcohol sales. We allow alcoholic beverages inside the campground at your campsite. Drinking is not allowed on the trails.
All sites come with a standard charcoal grill. You will need to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. If you don't want to pack those along, they are available for purchase in our store.
Pets are allowed in the cabins and campsites, but you must clean up after them and they must be kept on a leash.
I will be taking both of the ATVs in my sig (my brother will be riding the Grizzly) with my truck and 18 trailer. I think SNEAKY will be riding with me, so I might have room for one more person if somebody wanted to go but didnt want to drive.
