I think there may be a few differences between your old shaft drive CB900 (guessing you had a custom) and the new one. I had an 83 CB1000 Custom. Bug ole tank but ran pretty good for its age. I LOVE the new 919.

Nope. Had a 900F (chain drive, big brother of the 750F). After reading about "Fast" Freddie Spencer and his laps at Willow Springs, I went and bought a new black one. They clocked the top speed at 141 back then, but I never got it above about 130. This 919 is a lot different animal! First off, it's 100 lbs. lighter, Fuelie, 6sp., etc.

they're a little pricey, but i REALLY like my rs-taichi gp evo gloves. super comfy right from the beginning, and held up great after my last crash.

and another big thumbs up to motoliberty.

I like to try on stuff locally, and then hit www.newenough.com to see if they have it any cheaper. I have seen some killer deals on there..

And Congrats on the 919! Can't go wrong with that 'ol RR mill!!

Thanks! Us old school guys like that more upright position. I cut my teeth on bikes from the late '70's/early '80's, and that was all we had.

true, but I don't really plan on doing much else other than air filter and stacks. I was just gonna go with the pc3 right now since I can order it for under $300, pre-loaded with the m4 map and free shipping.
and when it comes to the self tuning modules, I was told this is better than bazzaz:

Me and a couple buddy's go to Royse city, its an easy going MX track, no pro's out there, some guys will ride hard but you can get around it with out getting ran over, and they have some trails behind the track if you get burnt out on the track, we started learning there so you should be fine if you try there, its called Brushycreek, its across from Redline

If you don't mind me asking, where did you see a 650r for $4379 OTD?

I like the 650r and was thinking about getting it for my first bike. I'm not too concerned with going fast, using it mostly for commuting (all city roads) and for a little weekend riding.

I did a search on this and found everything to be a couple years old at best. Anyone have any recommendations on alarms for bikes with gps? Thanks

I've never used one, Scorpio paging alarms always seem to get recommended though.

Like any electronic anti-theft device, it's only as good as the install.

Don't leave your bike outside at an apartment or large parking lot, EVER.

Buy my 98 Civic 5spd - New A/C $2250 over 40mpg on the [email protected]

when I lived in an apartment I drilled a hole in the parking lot next to the curb and put one of those concrete anchors in the ground with an eye bolt sticking out.. then I put the bike sideways up against the curb and cable locked it to the eye bolt.
Then I covered it with a bike cover
then parked my car in the parking spot as close to the bike as I could..

although it isn't 100% I was damn sure going to make them work for it
