WTB... Hodaka dirt bike from the 70s

Looking to buy a early 70s complete Hodaka dirt bike or just the engine... anybody have one of these laying around the garage or know where one is?

Cash awaits.

Hurry, I'm bidding on one on ebay, but I'd rather purchase locally if possible.

Hodaka? Why are you wanting one of those? I had 6 or 7 of them in the early 70's.

It's a long story.. but basically, I want the engine to go on a Bonanza minibike I'm currently refurbishing.

more details later.

btw... thanks for the quick work on the CL links, that one in Rockwall might be worth looking at.

Picked up an '06 GSX-R600......

5200 miles. VERY comfortable ride! It sits lower than my ZX6R and my balls aren't getting crushed! Woot! It seems very docile compared to my last bike as well. The ZX6R was geared down a tooth in front, which I think made it feel much quicker than this one. Well, plus a PC, filter and full exhaust didn't hurt either I guess. The GSXR is much more sluggish off the line, but I think that was just gearing. The suspension seems much more forgiving as well, but I never really had mine set up or adjusted on the old bike. Overall, I'm liking it, but this is all based on about a 15-minute ride from Richardson. The only complaint I have so far is my left shin seems to bump the point on the plastics on that side. I may be able to adjust something to help that though. Here are a couple pics. It's REALLY clean!

I have, they kinda suck on the street, but they are dead sexy. Now on the track, thats a different story. I'd love one. As far as looks go, that suzuki is a sharp looking scooter.

ok, but the '08 Triumph 675 (675cc) has less power and isn't as quick as a '08 gsxr 600. using your logic shouldn't it be the other way around....

Haha, meant to say 600-750 on the 06-up. I just love the torque that the literbikes make. I've owned several of them and would hate to go back to something with less power.

you'd think so, ive ridden both the zx6r and gsxr and you can easily tell the difference in engine size. haven't had any experience nor ridden a triumph so anything further outa me would be coming directly from my ass . . .

Try moving the rearsets around, they are adjustable from the factory. That's one of the pluses to the gixxers, helps a lot when your 6'4".

Good looking bike bro! White is definitely my favorite color in that bike, now throw some Yoshi exhaust on it and you're good to go.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

went and tried to get me a white/silver '08 600 today and couldn't find one. Guy at the dealership I was refered to told me he could try to get one for me, but not for lower than $10.8K, and I can't ever see paying that high for a 600cc bike when you can get a '07 liter for less than $10K otd. I told him I'd do it for $10K (which is still too high) and his boss wouldn't do that. Hell, I even said I'd take the white/blue (ever so popular color) for $9.8K otd and he wouldn't do that. Over on gixxer.com I see people getting them for under $9500 otd all the time. Guess I need to call farther out, or try a different color scheme. Found one of the all black models, but not sure if I really want something all black.

So, all in all, my day off has sucked since I planned on having a new bike today and now I don't. Would actually be my first "sport" bike too, since all my others have been an upright seating position like my FZ1.

Harley sportster?

Im thinking about buying my first street bike. So far I like the cruiser type and the sportster has caught my eye. It would be nice to get a little better than 50 mpgs though.
Anyone have any bike recommendations?

I ride a Harley myself and I wouldn't recomend a sporster, not because it's a "girls bike" or anything like that, but because it feels tall, it; to me it feels kind of like riding an enduro. If you really want a Harley I would recomend looking at the Dyna lineup. If you look at something like a 2 or 3 year old Dyna lowrider then you'll be around the same price range as a new 1200 Sporster.

...But in all reality, for your first street bike, you should really look at a used Honda or Kawi. I know that wanting a Harley you probably don't want to hear that, but it really isn't a bad idea. I rode a 98' Honda Shadow 750 as my learner and first season bike. It was really great actually, got great mpg. and was about the same size as my current Fatboy. Granted it wieghed a lot less and wasn't a Harley, but the group that I rode with then and still ride with now, never gave me slack about it being a Honda. It was a full size V-twin that I paid 3k for and had no regrets.

So seriously, think about picking something like that up if you're looking around.

I was looking at the shadow and the nighthawk first. I don't give a shit if its a Harley or not. Don't even care who makes it. I just want something that fits my needs.
I rode an R6 around for a few months and it was a little uncomfortable, so whatever is comfortable to ride really. I have never ridden a shadow, nighthawk, or a sportster. A lot of my friends build/ride custom choppers and I don't like them at all.

If you like the cruiser style, the Harley Dyna or Softail series is a better fit than a Sportster. I have several friends that started with one as their first bike and it's not big deal if you learn right and ride right. Otherwise, the Nighthawk, Shadow or any other imbalanced import cruiser imitator can work for a season or so. Good luck and have fun.

I can't get anything too nice. My budget is around 3-4k. I saw the 08 HD sportsters for 6400 and 60.00 a month isn't bad. I could do that but ehh...I'll keep looking for a while.

I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the kind that we experience ourselves.
