Some buffalo creek footage

This is from a few weeks ago, its cool to watch videos, they let you know how you've progressed. Im going so much faster around that track now its crazy. Its me and 3 of my buddies Tyler on a 125, chad on a 250f, and anthony on a 450f. Theres one jump where they go by me, its an off camber step down that you cant see the landing, funny it was so easy the first time I just did it I cant wait to see my video in a year and look back at this stuff....
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...23596626451917

I also fixed my bottoming problem lastnight. Talked to factory connnection and they said to put 10cc more oil in each fork to bring it up to 390cc, and take my comp settings back out to 10 out from full from 6, cause the settings with right springs should be in the 8-12 range. With that and I put my clamps back to 24mm offset from 20mm and the bike is much better on hard landings and is much less busy in the turns. It turns damn fast at village in the good dirt with stock clamps, Tamestang, i got a set of 20mm offset RG3 triples upper and lower to sell you

Looking smooth over those jumps. I didn't see the big triple step down though!

Bring it over and I will dyno it for free. See all I do is I take it on the road and get on it through the first 4 gears and that gives me a good estimate what you are making! AND ITS FREE!

Im gettin a street tire for my stock rear wheel on the 450 so I can see what Im makin. It made 43rwhp with a knobbie on it LOL, its obviously pullin lots of HP. It was lean though, so I put new jets in her and some ult 4. Its REALLY noticable at the track. With just a twist of the throttle I can still make pretty big gaps at the last second. It was funny, my buddy Tyler was behind me, he thought I wasnt gonna hit this big double, and he was in the gas from the turn already committed. I twisted the throttle and there he is, we are side by side about 6 inches from each other in mid air. Damn I love my dirtbike, Id do her if I could

Restoring 1972 Honda XL 250

I am getting my dads old bike that has been sitting in storage for the past 15 years or so. It is complete, just needs cleaning up. He used to race motocross way backin the day on this bike Lol. He was going to give it away but I told him I wanted it. Hell, I learned how to ride this bike before I could a bicycle! Anyway, is there anybody that is familiar with this bike that can shoot me a few pointers on what I should to get it running? He did nothing as far long term storing plans. Just stopped ridding it and put it away.. gas in tank and all. same oil too.

Thanks
Doug

dude, i just picked up my old '74 xl100 from my dads house last week. been sitting about 10 years and i just started messing with it today.

i'd start with the basics:

-clean out gas tank, carb, fuel lines and petcock.
-check points for corrosion and adjustment
-new spark plug
-change oil and clean filter screen
-new battery (its 6v, so don't put a 12v charger on it!)
-check for corrosion on all battery, rectifier, and coil connections

i have the manual for it if you need some info on it. parts are cheap for these bikes, but kind of hard to come by.

http://www.denniskirk.com actually has some parts for it, and i got some points, and forks seals from http://vmopro.com/ for cheap. there are a few companies on ebay that sell rebuild kits for the carbs, improved rectifiers, and other stuff. just need to look around for it. there are a lot of phillips head screws that get stripped out really easy, but they sell most of them at home depot. i don't know what size tires you've got, but the front on mine seems to be a bitch to find. apparently 19" tires aren't that common.

about 5 years ago I owned two 72xl 250s. One was complete and ran great. the other was just a parts bike. I rode it around on the streets up to about 80mph and i even took it to red river one time

DAMN thats an old Honda trail bike. Years and years ago I bought a 75 XL250 at a garage sale for 25 bucks with no title....but it had been sitting outside for years and years. I never got it running and eventually scrapped it out. Some day I will probably end up with a good running street legal 4 stroke enduro.

Thanks for the replies guys.

yes it is an old bike. I am almost 40 now. I was 5 when my dad was racing this bike. I am hoping to get it running and looking good to ride with my brother. He has our grandfathers cherry Yamaha 350?? Not sure of the year. Maybe late 70s'. When he bought it from our grandmother after our g/f died it only had about 500miles on it.

thanks
Doug

Typically what size cc are those?

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

450 4strokes are "it" for everything dirt bike

honda makes the best mx/sx 450 with yami, kawi, suzi not far behind

Husaberg is mainly a European bike. They are sold rarely in the US, not many dealers. They are mainly used for long enduros or cross country. They are heavy bastards so they don't fly very well, so they're mainly on the trails.

good point... but not really... look he spends more money on advertising/marketing.. that's who has the better riders

more importantly, look at what the privateers ride. honda. the reason = it's closer, stock, to a race bike than any other....the other 3 are getting close, but wait until honda goes efi next year.. it'll be 2-3 years before anyone else does. honda is the leader, they use better parts, they utilize their technology better, etc etc.. they don't need to buy the better rider (JS or RC)

Went to Village Creek for the 50 race

Made a little video of the action and my buddies band played there so I put one of their songs in it and some of them playing. They had a 3k dollar pro payout and the racing was pretty close and very exciting!

GP Race *SPOILER*

Colin on the Podium!!! Dani rode like a damn machine busting off some fast times and so did Nicki. Best finish I've seen from Hopkins. Looks like Suzuki might have finaly figured it out.. Rosi was looking damn good and probably would have taken Colin out for the podium but his front tire "chunked"........ Its going to be a good year of racing
