Unhappy Please help a fellow board member

Over the weekend a fellow DFWstanger was involved in a bad motorcycle accident. His name is Shawn Hamilton, his username is badjimmihat. Some of you know him, some of you dont but take my word for it he's a great guy. Saturday night he was on the highway on a friends crotch rocket and somehow ended up getting bumped by another car (I believe he was at fault but I'm not sure). He was thrown from the bike at over 70 mph. Luckily he was wearing a helmet, which saved his life, but he ended up with a very bad concussion.....his helmet was cracked up really bad. He also got some pretty nasty road rash, a broken and dislocated shoulder, and both bones in his forearm broken through the skin. He was unconscious for a few days and is just now starting to come to his senses. He has finally been moved out of ICU and into a normal room in Harris Methodist. He didn't have full coverage auto insurance, or health insurance because his job didn't offer it. He has a wife and two kids to take care of. Not only will he be out of work for quite some time but you can imagine the doctors bills that him and his family will be faced with. He or his family have no idea that I'm doing this for them, and I normally wouldn't but he and his family are in a bad situation and really needs help. Please dont be quick to pass judgment on him either. Those of you that know him know that he's a great guy and he's a great father and husband. Just put yourself in his shoes and please help out if you can, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made to the following Paypal account: [email protected] and if you'd like to see him he'll be at Harris Methodist for quite some time I'm sure. PM me if you'd like his room number.

Thanks
-Robin

Robin:

Please send me a PM. North Texas Nissan would like to make a donation. It'll be in the form of a check (instead of paypal), so I'll need some additional information.

Just go to www.Paypal.com and send money to the paypal address above or you can mail a check payable to Shawn Hamilton. Just pm me for an address to send it to. Anything helps. A little from a lot of you will make a huge difference.

Aw fuck. I was just talkin to him the other night too.

Which hospital is he at? I'd like to go visit him tomorrow.

edit: is he at Methodist downtown, or HEB???

Is there anything besides money they could use? Anything at all?

He's at the downtown Ft Worth location. I'll ask them if there's anything they need. I plan on going up there tommorrow after work. I'm going to offer to watch the kids when needed while all this is going on. His wife is hysterical I'm sure and the kids are a lot to handle when things like this happens.

hmm...was he racing?

a fellow biker I know (B. Ducker) was supposedly racing another bike over the weekend and a 18 wheeler turned in front of him.
Now, he's in Harris Methodist with all ribs broken, broken legs, broken arm, broken etc, blood on the brain, and in a coma. He's still in ICU. anyone else on here know Ducker?

Thanks for your help!!! We all hope he heals fast....I'm thinking he's gonna have a long recovery. His arm and shoulder are pretty bad and he's gonna have to have some skin grafting I'm sure. Talk about pain....I hope he gets to keep the morphine drip for a long time.

*PLEASE READ!* Lawmakers might hurt you as a motorcyclist!!

This is a very important issue for motorcyclists across the country. We have been set up for a screwing by one of our "Administrations" which was clearly a result of undue influence
from the Insurance Lobby. Your Group Health Care Insurance provider cannot deny you coverage because you ride BUT they can refuse to pay any benefit claim if you are injured in an accident on your bike.

We have an opportunity to correct this injustice RIGHT NOW. There are two bills in Congress (House and Senate versions) to close this loophole. Follow the directions and let your guys in Washington know that there is broad support among their constituents to pass this legislation.

http://www.ama-cycle.org/legisltn/rapidresponse.asp

In the left column, top item, click on AMA RAPID RESPONSE CENTER
saw this on another board today.

The next screen will show (4) four ACTION ALERTS. Click on the one for the HOUSE INTRODUCES HEALTH INSURANCE BILL FOR MOTORCYCLISTS.

Use the scroll down bar immediately adjacent to the text and fill in your name and address information. Fill in your name in the box labeled "Your Closing:".

Finally, click on the "Send Message" box. This will go to the
Congressman in your District. It knows who he (she) is from your
address.

Go back to the ACTION ALERTS screen and repeat the process for the one titled "SENATE INTRODUCES HEALTH INSURANCE BILL FOR MOTORCYCLISTS". This will go to your Senators.

Note that there are instructions for editing the AMA text if you care to change anything or add your own comments. If you choose to do so, keep it clean and polite.
