See, from the side, i thought it looked good, but I thought there was only one can in a highmount.

then i see the rearshot, and ACK. that doesn't look too good, althought the signals do.

YACK. That thing looks fat as shit. The old ZX10 looked somewhat sleek, if not jagged but still skinny. This thing looks like a pig, im sure its fast, but it just looks slow.

and whats up with the wanna-be K5 tail?

I'm not digging it. Looks worse than last years model which I liked other than the silly digital dash. In particular the exhaust looks bad, reminds me of the Yamaha FZ6.

Some info I've got from another website. Looks like Kawasaki finally got rid of the "all" digital gauge cluster.

Quote:
Headlining the changes to an already potent powerplant is a boost in midrange torque brought on by a more efficient fuel-injection system. This system features 43mm throttle bodies with dual throttle valves, and its new "ultra-fine atomizing injectors" are claimed to offer improved combustion. Oddly, Kawasaki doesn't claim an increase in peak power from this new mill that has had its cylinder-bank angle slightly changed from 20 degrees to 23.

An interesting change to the new ZX is a heavier flywheel that is said to smooth the ferocious powerband of the previous engine, aided by its generator that moves from behind the cylinders to the crankshafts end, further adding mass to the rotating assembly. Revised engine-management mapping is claimed to reduce abruptness in throttle transitions, such as when reapplying gas when exiting corners, and a higher swingarm pivot location will theoretically transfer power to the rear tire more effectively.

An altered shift linkage is said to offer improved gear changes, and a lighter radiator graces the front end for increased cooling on the 996cc, DOHC, 16-valve fire-breather. Both the slipper clutch and petal-style brake rotors are back by popular demand.

The ZX-10R got stroked by past test riders for its agility and ability to rail corners, and Team Green has delved in deeper to extract a better handling package. A new frame delivers a new stiffness balance, and it cradles the engine higher in the chassis for enhanced mass centralization that is claimed to offer quicker roll response.

Details on rake and trail have not yet been released, though its 54.5-inch wheelbase remains the same. Its rear tire gets a larger diameter by switching from a 190/50 to a 190/55-17.

And Kawasaki has finally answered our prayers to address the ZX's few shortcomings. It has finally fitted a steering damper on the mighty beast, a spendy, twin-tube, adjustable Ohlins piece, no less.

And Kawi also has tossed the much maligned instrument cluster into the circular file and replaced it with a new gauge pack that has an analog tachometer combined with a digital speedo. Team Green claims some sort of new technology that gives the impression the cluster is further away, making it easier for eyes to transition from the focus of the road to that of the gauges. Its backlighting can be set to four levels of brightness.

Kawasakie styling has always confused me, sometimes on a particualr bike they nail the design then drag out some 15+ year old style for another portion of the bike. Its like their design team isn't unified in the project or something, I dunno. That bike does have some modern styling, but a pretty rough exhaust, fairing, and front end IMO.

i sense that was a biased statement...

it's going to be a hard choice, new r6 or a closeout special for a 04' zx10r....

how's a 10r compared to 636 ? comfortability and riding stance...

Im just kidding the ZX10 is faster but when your doing 140+ in the 1/4 and they all do..what's not fast about that.

I have not rode a 636, Not sure what the difference is. I am a huge fan of the R6, If I ever went back to a 600 it would be the R6 hands down, very smooth easy to ride bike.

i know your kidding !

curious how the 10r feels, i'm seriously thinking about one, but i rode a 636 and it seemed uncomfortable, maybe because my body hasn't adjusted to it or what. But my zx6r is comfy, nice relaxed riding position !

Nope, I's all stock again. It's retired, fought many battles and put down some damn good numbers for a stock bike. Time to chill till the 06's come out, then I'll come back out and put it on your ass for a third time........lol

The rear of that bike will look much better after you take the mudflap off of it and you put aftermarket cans on it. I can bet on it. The front looks very simple a lot like what a raced out one would look like. I like that. And the overall stance of it says bring it biatch. It will look sweet once it gets a little TLC on the flap and exhaust.

what about a 04 GSXR600 for a first bike

I was looking at the F4i 600 like yall said, but I found a pretty good deal on a 04 GSXR 600. Only 1300 miles all stock $5495. I thought that was a decent price. I need to call them to find out if there is anything wrong with it though, but its at a dealership.

what do yall think? The 02 F4i are going for around $5700 with around 8-10K miles. Now mind you this is my first bike and I have never ridden a bike before. I only want a 600 no bigger.

also I found a 01 R6 for $4995 with 12K miles (i think its all stock, not for sure on that one though) on it at another dealrship I thought about looking at. It seem like the F4i are kinding of holing there value. they are alitle higher.

edit its a YZFR600 if that makes a difference

that makes a huge diffrance

the YZF600R and the R6 are totaly diffrent bikes. 600R weights more and looks worse and it a lot less stable in the corners.

i bought my first bike last year.. its a 04 gsxr 750.

i bought it new, and practiced around my house ( new housing area= lots of roads.. no traffic) starting and stopping for a long time before i even got over 40 mph..

just be careful, use your head, wear your gear, and respect the bike's abilities and you should be fine. and of course watch out for other idiots

The gixxer is a great bike if you can respect the power. The Yzf600...dont look into it if you really want a 100% "crotch rocket" yzf is heavier, sitting position isnt the same..etc. My first streetbike was a gixxer 600, but I've ridden dirtbikes since I was 12. If you can realize that bike will do more than you have the skill to make it do, you'll last a little while on it.

I started on a F4, sold it and got a 929 because I thought I needed the addidtional power.. Mistake.. I think I had more fun on the 600 because I could actually punch it through all the gears and they seem to handle better.. I loved that F4!! The 929 was awesome, don't get me wrong, but it just seemed like the 600 was easier to bang through gears and carve the corners.. Just my .02..

screw the 929, thats just way to much for me . I know my limits, thats why I'm keeping my crazy ass speeds for the race car at the track.

I just would like alittle 600 for around town, save alittle on gas and have fun at the same time. I rarely get to take my ski out so thats why I want to sell it and get the bike.
