CMRA Race June 25 & 26, anyone going?

Oak Hill Raceway, Henderson, Texas.

Quote:
Located in East Texas, just outside Henderson. The track was originally constructed in 1975 for Go Kart racing, making it a very technical course.
I'm planning on going for the weekend. Anyone else interested?

When are you guys heading out and where are you planning on staying? I found a clean motel when I was down there last that was $45 a night for a double. Not sure if I'll stay there or at my cousin's house.

Clean hotel in Henderson? hahahahaha If you get one without roaches your lucky!
I don't know when we'll be heading out there. There is not big bike endurance at Oak Hill races(track is too small). So, we may not head out till late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

It wasn't bad man, no roaches and the AC worked great. About as good as you'd expect for a $45 a night hotel. Only been there once so maybe I got lucky LOL! I'll probably head out Saturday morning.

I am going to try and go w/ you all...anyone have chatterboxes yet?? My mom actually lives 20-25 min from there so I could stay w/ her, and actually depending on how many ppl could maybe house a few. Just got to make sure I don't have to work that weekend.

my mom is in Gladewater....not too far from Henderson, I just think it would be fun to go down there w/ everyone on a nice ride. Probably about time to go visit anyways lol. I used to ride every now and then with a group in Longview...when KevinH78 used to ride too. I bet we know some of the same people down in that area.

No Chatterbox yet but I'm trying to figure out my finances so I can get one (or two). Do you have one yet? Cool offer on the housing but I'll probably crash out at my cousins or get a hotel room nearby which isn't to expensive.

I'll see what's up Tony. So hows the insurance thing going with the bike?

Learn on a fourwheeler. My warrior has the same gear pattern as my ninja. 6 speed and all.

I just started and my bike is a 250 ninja. Got bored with that bike in 2 freaking days and I've never ridden a bike in my life. Try and grab a 500 Ninja or an old slower 600cc bike. Defenitly don't go new. The 250 is fine around town but on the highway it's a bitch getting past 80.

i would say start with a used 600. one of my buddies got a ninja 500 a couple of months ago and he has already gotten bored with it. everyone will tell you you need to start small, but i know guys who started out on literbikes and did just fine. hell, i started on a zx-7r and have had no problems that were my fault. it will all be up to you and your maturity level. ride safe and ride smart and it pretty much does not matter what you are on. just know that within your first few months your skills will improve dramatically and you will get really bored really fast if you go too small...

this opinion has been brought to you by TonyMCev...

I don't have a chatterbox, but trying to decide on getting one....there is a nice Group purchase going on on the R1-forum.com They have the X2(mid level) for 180 plus shipping, this seems like a good deal. I just have to decide if its worth it, since I'm still trying to persuade my buddies to get one.

Won't have the money to spend on the Chatterbox right now so I'm out for the GP That and I need to convince my riding buddy to get one to as it's no fun when your the only one with it LOL!

well thats a good plan then. look into an older 600cc bike like an F4, F4i (fuel injected), or R6. They are what most people here started on and alot of them still own that bike. probably look for something that was laid down in their driveway or a low speed lowside with no frame damage and has new plastics on it that way it costs less and you will lose less in the end.

that is what i was thinking of doing, i know as soon as my car is rebuilt and i sell the truck i am in now i will take the class and then buy a bike.

Get a used 92 or up CBR600F2 or F3. Same bike pretty much. If you do some searching you could prolly find one for around 2500 or less (condition gets worse the lower the price). Dollar for dollar they cant be beat for reliability and parts availability..and they are pretty fast when you really get on em.

Don't be intimidated. I took the course and it was raining the entire time and it was fine. They don't just throw you on bike, plus the bikes are only 50c.

I looked at the bikes on the SW super bikes site and the 250 are kind of expensive for the miles on them.

Its been a while since I took the course but when I took it they provided us with REALLY STRONG........NOT!!!....Honda Rebel 250's.

Slow azz POS...but they were lightweight and pretty much disposable if you crashed.

if you want something to learn on and cheap for now. I have a 81 Suzuki GS650GT

Link to the previous post. With Pics of the Bike.

NO REASONIBLE OFFER WILL BE REFUSED OR TRADE.

NO TITLE. Dragwaytad had the VIN checked before i bought it and he said it was clear you would just have to file for a lost title and if you know a car dealer they can usually get lost titles easy.... I bought the bike from Dragwaytad on here a while back and I just have not had time to mess with it. It Runs and rides fine, there are a couple of the bolts in the header broken so there is an exhaust leak, the choke cable is broke so you have to hold the choke open when you first start it to keep it running till it warms up. Right now the battery is dead so I will either need to charge it or replace it. It is a shaft driven bike the tires are good on it. As you can see it has really low miles on it.

a very trusted board member has it and i have asked him if he was willing to sell it. he said a 1000.oo would bring it home. only problems that are know, is that both rear turn signals are broke. no big deal.

I was at Plano Honda over the weekend and noticed the lowjack advertisments there. You might give them a call, regardless of what type of bike you ride, just to get the details.
