Cruisers

I know that sport bikes are the main stage here but I really like cruisers. I would like to get a cheap starter bike and work my way up to a soft tail or a big dog when I am REALLY comfortable but thats a WAYS away. My question is, does anyone know of a decent cruiser to start out on? I keep finding Honda Rebel 250s (99-01) for like 1800 with LOW miles but know that a 250 will not keep me happy long. I am alittle concerned with looks. I cant stand wire spoke rims so any help is greatly appreciated with decent looks from the factory.

Joel

if i wanted a cruiser, i would build one,no doubt about it, pick up a wide tire frame, stick my motor of choice in there, use a donor harness, and pimp the hell out of it, because I built it.

bikes are pretty simple mechanically, and electrically, especially carbureted ones.

you could probably build a pretty cool bike for 4-5k if you did it yourself.

The Big Dogs are nice. I've always liked Harley's but when it came down to buying a bike I had to look at the pros and cons of the bike I wanted. I really wanted a chopper but, couldn't afford it. When it came down to it, I wanted to ride not work on my bike. I decided to buy a VTX 1800 Retro Cast. No wire wheels, tons of power, and all I have to do is put gas in and ride. When you buy your bike get what you want so you dont have to upgrade later. My VTX was my first bike and I love it. If I would have gotten a 1100 Shadow or a 1300 VTX I would be unhappy with it by now. It all comes down to what you want. Good luck looking.

exactly, I work at a auto dealer and there are a hand full of guys with Harleys and those things are torn apart for oil leaks and what not more than i see them being ridden... The sport bike guys dont have many problems but I just dont trust myself on one and would rather learn on what I plan on ending with...

If you get a 250cc street bike, even if it is your first one, you will regret it within a month if you weigh more than 100lbs.

gospel music in a motorcycle shop?

I'm in no way saying there is anything wrong with gospel music, but would you expect to hear it blasting in a motorcycle shop? The girl who answers the phone here is a missionary from one of the local churches and has a radio sitting on her desk, facing the show room floor, with gospel music blaring all day long.

I work at a Kawasaki/SEADOO/BombardierATV shop in East Texas and you are right, you gotta have the right music for the atmosphere. I've almost said something a few times but she goes to church with the boss and he is already kinda protective of her ( he covers her ass when she doesn't get her work done or stays gone all day long fucking off ) so I'd probably be wasting my time.

I love my bike its classed as a sport cruiser. 02' road star warrior. Only crusier in production with aluminum frame, R-1 forks, and brakes. Cost 1/3 of a harley, and you get the gas and go peace of mind of a Yamaha. I got Vance and Hines pro-pipes running open-sounds better than a harley to me. Check out www.rswarrior.com

Well the thing is, I didnt expect to BE in a church parking lot in Gladewater that night. Some of my ladies family lives off of 726? or 226? I cant remember, it hooks up with 300 to longview and then gilmer, where my folks live. I figured we were safe in a church parking lot with it raining so bad.

Some guy did come out of the church got in his Ford Ranger and drove around a bit trying to get a look I guess. Normally, when I was younger, I would have left, but I was having too good a time. I was like take pictures buddy... We'll see you tomorrow in Church.

Next time I will Pm you. My lady friend and I are going back there to visit family on the 17th of December. Im down for some beers.

Ride (11-26-04)

Myself(Scott) and Adam(onewagon) are going riding around 2pm or so....if anyone wants to ride post up or PM me ...I will check the boards hour before I leave .......He is in Plano and I am in Fort Worth so we are going to met half way ....we have no time limit or real area we are going basically..just going to go ride where ever!....

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

You need to have Motley Crue playing "Wild Side" and "Live Wire" all day.......makes me want to buy a bike. "Girls Girls Girls" works also.

R1s gotta be faster...i'd give handles and pimp factor to the RSVR personally though...if anyone knows anyone with an 01+ RSVR i am looking to trade straight across or plus cash and my G1k.

parts for an 04+ R1 are gonna be hard to find right now, but the 98+ and 02+ models are readily available.

I also know Aprillias havent changed much since the 00.5 intro, so parts are readily available for them as well, and if you're lookin used you can find GOOD deals ~$5500 for a decent RSVR.

with all thats said...my drunk ass says go for the priller if you can find a good one. main reason being noone else has em. besides my 02 G1k just put THE HURT on an 04 R1

I agree with Nay. R1's definately gotta be faster, it makes more power at higher RPMS. The aprilia in question is a vtwin.

Pimp bike. Another bike that you will never see, at least Ive never seen one, is the M4 Augusta. In-line 4 with 4 seperate exhaust. Single sided swing and secksi as hell.

What years of both bikes?

There was a recent review of all the 04 big hitter bikes in a UK mag, and a couple 600 classers just to show how well they compared to some of the bigger bikes during the tests. It was a very exhaustive test with multiple riders, all the bikes at the same place/same time/same weather/etc... I really need to find the PDF of it, wish I would have saved it.

Anyway, if I recall in that review the 999 Duc and the 1000 Aprilla got lower scores due to just how well the Japanese bikes are performing nowadays, and honestly, I'd have to agree. Its becoming really hard to compete w/ the japanese in price/performance when it comes to sportbikes nowadays.

I believe the current RSV 1000 is completley redesigned, i'm sure its incredible to ride and I venture to say that it makes more torque...and makes it sooner...than the 04 R1 (or other 04 japanese liter class for that matter). Of course, once in the gravy zone....the modern I4's will likley out run it.

Question Let's see what the masses think...

A 04' Nicky Hayden signed replica bike..

Or an all new 05 black bike.

I can get the 04 for a really good price, or just alittle off the top on the 05. I like the 05 because its the first black one. The price is very hard to beat on the 04. Not much has really changed between the two years. Resale on the 04 could also be higher then the 05. Any thoughts?

god forbid you ever drop it, the replica fairings WILL be more expensive, and i Honestly doubt that the resale will be higher, it's not like it was a special edition, that's just the only color that honda made that year.

you know my feelings, you've been lusting after the black for months, if you don't look at it and smile, then buy the other one, if they both make your dick twitch, then buy the '04.

Anyone want to go for a ride this Tuesday

Tuesday I am thinking of riding out to Possum Kingdom using my usual route. Lots of long flat straight roads with a few interesting turns. Anyone off Tuesday care to join me for some high speed fun? Post up if you want to come along.

I really like those bikes and have ridden one but the only thing that keeps me from getting one is they are stinking heavy beast! But they are truly pimp rides and are really nice. That and that Vtwin is bucky as crap down low. Sounds sweet though.

my buddy came to the local show on one and let me go around the block. He said it was an 05 and it was all black just like that one, so I do believe him. he had an 04 before that one.

**edit**Just talked to him again b/c you guys were asking me about it. he said he bought different plastics for it to make it look like the 05 along with some paint. My bad. But I totally prefer the look of the 05 better.

Hey man, I'm not sure what these are really worth but there is one in the local paper here that seems like a good deal. The details are below if you want to check it out.

2004 HONDA RC-51 1000R. 680 miles, matching helmet and jacket. Adult owned and garage kept. $9400. 903-845-5813, 903-720-5417

allstate was the cheapest I could find.

As for lawyer, just grin and bear if you were guilty. nothing worse than people arguing tickets they diserved to get. If you are innocent, you shouldnt need a lawyer. Misdemeaner tickets are usually handled at the pretrial if they are gonna get dismissed and that is by either the judge or the prosecutor.

As far as a lawyer make sure that he is in the county and city you got the ticket. I got a ticket in Richardson and took it to a lawyer I had good luck with in Dallas I was pulled of in Garland and told that I had I warrent for nothing else but THAT he let me go. I called the lawyer he posted $320.00 CASH in Richardson. Anouther year passes I get pulled over on the way to work a half mile from my house. I get a ticket and I go to jail becauses the lawer let the ticket go to a warrant again. The court only notified him because he is my council. My wife had to drive to Dallas pick up cash from the lawyer and go to Richardson to bail me out. At my court date the Rich. judge had mercy on me and let me off and gave me 100.00 for time served and good advice DON'T HIRE A LAWYER FOR TICKETS. I think that Rich. does this on purpose and I had a P.O.S. lawyer. I have since been able to plead no contest, ask for deferred jutification and pay the fine with nothing going on my record. It cost more but it will keep my virgin ass out of jail. Oh yeah my wife showed the police at the jail the lawyer paper work they said DON'T HIRE A LAWYER.

As far as ins I had a Triumph and they worked some deal with an ins co and list it as a touring bike. My ins was $250.00 a year for FULL COVERAGE with one totaled bike(12,000+ payoff) and a few tickets. The Daytona is a great bike if you put a 180 on the back and a good pipe and a tune.

i really am not a fan of black bikes...another vote for the hayden replica. the only way you could get me to ride a black bike is if you gave me an 04/05 R1 painted flat black, blood red R1 decal, chromed frame and swingarm, polished titanium pipes, with red anodized OZ or marchezzi rims.

yea, these bike rear tires can be expensive. you should try buying some race take offs. I hear that you can get them cheap from southwest superbikes. Im actually in the process of trying to find a new rear also.

Need #/url for Garage Mahal

Bike's locked in first/neutral and was getting hot. Just pushed it 2+ miles home. It's going to be sometime before I can get it in, but want to get an idea of what the problem might be. Guess that's what I get for taking 5 min to play when I had work to do.
