Thumbs up MotoGP at Laguna Seca

Anyone gonna make the trip next year for this race? I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy my tickets. 3 day pass isn't too much and I think Gay Greg (2 Wheel Tuesday) said you get a paddock pass with that.

It's not that far of a drive is it?

BLASPHEMY!!!

I do like Hayden, though...and Gibernau. In fact, I was kinda happy to see that Gibernau is only like 12 points outta the top spot. (shhh...don't tell Rossi he's losing his biggest fan. LOL)

I've never been to a motorcycle race but I'm really getting into watching it on TV now. I haven't finished watching this weekends race in Quatar where Rossi had an accident. What was the deal with Rossi and Honda about cleaning the track? Didn't catch all of that but they got penalized or something and moved back further in the starting grid.

Anyway, I might be interested in going depending on work.

The Quatar track is in the middle of the desert. Rossi and Biaggi's people hopped the fence to clean off the area of the track where they were going to start. The track found out about it and Biaggi and Rossi had 6 seconds knocked off their qualifying lap which put them in the back of the grid. Rossi made it all the way to 4th or 5th and then wrecked out, Biaggi made it to 9th and finished the race.

So what was the deal with there starting positions? Or did track prep suck?

Track prep sucked ~ there was sand on the track (I assume). The starting positions was the penalty for getting caught cleaning off the track. (knocked 6 seconds off their qualifying lap which put them at the back of the pack starting)

I have family in San Francisco, so I think I'm gonna stay with them and drive down to Monterey for the races. All of the hotels around the track are sold out.

lookin at a new bike, SV1000S?

found an awesome 2003 SV1000S brand new (under 10 miles on it), for a nice price. wondering what anyone thought about this bike. Most of the like new 2003 R6s Ive seen are around the same price range. I hate having the same thing as everyone else (hence a torino instead of a mustang). So I'm really seriously thinking about it. This would be my first bike to own. Ive ridden a friends F4i, an 01 (?) R6 and a SV650, and I could see myself getting bored with those real fast. I want something I'll be cool with keeping stock, riding back and forth to school, and definately to impress the ladies. Just wondering what ya'lls opinions were.

I like them ok but they didnt sell very well at all. Most dealers are heavily discounting them just to get rid of 03's.
How about a TL1000R? They are a little racier.Either way, those Suzuki twins sound awesome with a set of Yoshi RS-3 cans on them.

actually, my best friend rides an 03 sv1000s and he loves it. It is a real eye catcher everywhere he goes and can be made to go pretty fast. But seriously, dont expect too much off the showroom floor. Those stock 996's just dont make the power of the liter bikes. They have tremendous torque which is a ton of fun, though. I say go for it. My buddy gets originality points out the ass for his bike!

They are made by Suzuki in a "S" and "R" model.Neither are made anymore.

The R was a full fairing sportbike. The S is more in line with the SV1000 meaning more upright riding position with an exposed engine.

go with the sv over the tl.......tl's are "last year news" and the sv benefits from new tech. plus insurance wont kill you either for a sv since it is considered a
sport-tour bike while the tl is a supersport bike. and with the sv rage happening you can find tons of aftermarket stuff for them.

Unhappy Bike wreak

Tonight after work I was on 75 headed toward Main event and just before the exit I saw what appeared to be a mangled either R1 or R6. That was pretty much all I could tell, that and it was painted white or silver with no graphics. There were two wreaked cars and about 50 to 100 yards ahead was a long path of parts and broken plastics and then the bike. Hope the guy was all right.

i bought a old old bike a while back and was going to use that to learn on and get used to riding. but i never got the title to it. so now it is just sitting on the back porch. So I am looking for something WITH title and that will be fun. And cheap that is the key right now.
