2001 gt 1/8th 1/4 trap speeds

my car weighs 3480 with me in it.
i'm running 87 mph on average in the eighth with a best of 90 mph and typically 8.3x with a best of 8.1x

and the quarter is average of 110mph with a best of 113mph and around a 12.8 with a best of 12.6

my best 60 ft is 1.91 and im usually in the 1.95 1.96 range.
im running in drag radials at 17 to 20 psi and have stock suspension other than upper and lowers. also i have 4:10s and built rearend with 31 spline.

so whats up. is this the best im going to do or should my 60 ft be much better? et be better? if i go full out slick with this help? lower tire pressure leave harder or softer?
help help help

Work on that 60 ft.

Pm me, and I will help. I was the red '96. I just got my first 1.68 60ft NA! and tons of low 1.7's. I was having too much fun NA and never did run it on the bottle.

'96 GT, PI conversion ,lots of bolt ons, Mach 1 chrome rims, NOS, and still not enough power. Not only looks slow, it is slow.

alright guys here go. picked up some m/t et streets (cheaters not the radials) today got em mounted up and shot back out to kennedale tonight to try them out cause nittos suck. well i didnt get there and have prostars mounted till 8 30 which gave me an hour and a half of draggin. well the first 3 passes where unimpressive and where about the same miserable crap i had been doing. 2.0 60 ft 8.36 to 8.5 e/t and 85 to 87 mph. then some cool guys at the track took it upon them selves to come up to me when i was in the stagin lane and have me check my tire pressure. now i was running out of time trying to cool the car 15 to 20 min between passes when i hot lapped it 2 races prior and was about to race my third consecutive race in a row. tire pressure was at 20 psi (little did i know that even though i dropped it to 18 it creeps back up with heat.) well he had me drp to 14 psi cause thats as low as i could get cause the track officials were telling me to hurry up so we just called it good. even the track officials where giving me some advice on heating the tires up.
long story short even though i hot lapped it back to back to back and didnt get tire pressure as low as the guy was talking about, i ran my best time of the night at 82.2 at 84.4 mph (low i guess from being heat soaked) and cut my all time best 60 ft at 1.89.
thanks for all yalls help and still have so much to learn
please no vets hate on me, im still learning and you dont pick this shit up by osmosis

interesting. your e.t.'s are in my neighborhood and i'm putting down around 250 rwhp n/a with a factory stock long block 2v. i use 26x11.5 m/t e.t. streets wrapped around 15x8 draglites. 15x4 draglites up front. my race weight is 3,585

your trap speeds are higher due to making more horsepower, but i'm putting down 1.79/1.80 60 ft.'s with over 150 less horsepower than you. and actually, i haven't been back out to the track with the 4.56s gears i just got and new set of plugs. my best time was only running on 7 cylinders. i'm looking forward to getting back to the track and running some solid numbers for my application. that'll be happening in a couple of more weeks.

you have to be having some traction issues, or binding, or driver mod issues.

practice. practice. practice. work on your 60' and the rest will fall into place. I used to run 16psi in my 17" nitto DRs and cut low 1.7s. not saying that's great but with similar trap speeds I was running 7.7s and 12.1s.

my dad has a 2001 gt with a non intercooled vortech, full exhaust, 3.73 gears and he ran the best of 8.2 on 15" drag radials with a 1.9 60' at 84 mph. he was running 14 psi on the drag radials. the only suspension mods he has are lowering springs.

8.8 1/8th mile on stock motor (225k miles) w/exhaust 3.73's and drag radials.

He just needs a lil driver mod and it would run pretty good.

I need the same driver mod. The only difference is I need more power instead of more traction. I ran a best 60' of 1.89 sat and a best 1/8 of 8.707. I'm running uppers, lowers, 3.73s, and et streets with only 240 horse on 180,xxx stock motor The car just lunges out there and falls on its face. I can't do a burnout or the car craps itself. Traction is definitely your friend. Right now it's my worst enemy. The 60' is what its all about especially if you've got the power to carry you out of the hole like you do.
