"Fall Cruise" and what you missed...

Well.. it was an eventful night, in more than one way. The weather was threatening rain all night long. Thunder and lightning off in the distance over and over. Since all of that was happening, the humidity/weather running off a lot of people and a major race happening elsewhere (I was told)... I elected to call off the KODFWS and the brackets. There was danger of rain, and of course, it would have caused us to NOT finish anything we would have started. Not to mention the possibility of damage to some rather expensive timing equipment...so, long story short, if you weren't there and were wondering about the KODFWS and bracket outcome - there was niether.

Next, There was a LOT of street-tired cars this time around. That, coupled with only a few "race tired" cars.. made for tricky track conditions. Some of the higher powered cars struggled to make a decent pass....regardless of how many times it was sprayed and drug. (when we first got there, it was STICKY!!)

All in all, it still ended up bieng a wierd night....

We had a non-member (or so I think at least).. do some 360's (V8 Datsun) at the top of the track, and barely nudged the wall from what I saw, only to be able to make future passes...I am sure he had to change his undies.

Next, we had cleto-chingon (?) have a not-so-fortunate accident. The car swayed from 200' out, towards the centerline (right lane), got loose and ended up nailing the wall pretty good. The car, to me, appears to be a total loss (buckled roof, completely flattened one side of the car) - luckily, he walked away - I'm sure he'll be feeling it tomorrow. Glad you're ok dude.

Then we had, what I was told to be a sucker punch "fight" - I heard some skinny dude sucker punched a much "bigger" dude. If that was a member, you might as well not come back. Someone will dime you out. We don't need that shit around when we're there trying to have a good time.

One of the better hightlights, the dirt track or someone in the immediate vicinity, put on a hell of a good fireworks show - Most impressive for a "small town" type community. They rivaled most of the shows I've seen in downtown FTW.
  1. Ryan, got home with no broken parts!
  2. "street lethal" and "bad03cobra" had the most impressive backfire honors.
  3. red viper - most passes in a single night
  4. Billy, again, with the best looking LX I've seen in a while (the black one, bogart wheels etc)
  5. 1fastvipper rolling up in true balla status with the big rig

Obviously, it goes without saying, a BIG thanks to thew crew and staff of TXR for making this all happen and go as smoothly has possible!

I'm sure there's something I am forgetting..

It was a good time. I actually made it to a cruse and ran my car, even though it didn't want to act right on the starting line. You can tune the car and it runs and makes boost on the brake all day long at the shop but once you come to the track it doesn't want to do shit funny how that works.... Thanks Brooks look farward to the next one.

Well I had fun even though I couldn't hook to save my life...even after my John Force style burnouts. I love my new clutch, just need to fine tune my shifting a tad bit. The most important thing to me is that I was able to drive the car home this time round without any issues or weird smells. My buddies and I took off early, but I heard about the wrecks. Glad everyone made it out in one piece. Thanks to brooks and the kdale staff.

Brooks, it was good to see you guys again. The wife and I had a good time. We cut out a little early because of the looming rain clouds and the nearly bald street tires on the back of my car and having an hour drive back home.

I would have liked to have made some passes but the upper control arm bushings being shot and bald street tires probably would have just been an aggravating hindrance. I think I'm going to go ahead and drain the tranny an put some new fluid in it too, after driving through the water I was telling you guys about.

Anyway, can't wait for the next one !

No biggie Mike, down at that end of the track, it's hard to hear sometimes. Regardless, most of the competitors in KODFWS were out anyways - Mike's truck got loose, so he loaded up and split. Cleto wrecked, Clint broke... etc..

Aaron - I'm glad you could make it out. I would have bailed if I had bald tires too. Hell, I would have bailed if I was driving a fox, they SUCK in the rain!!

Don't ask me. Plenty of fluids. Minus the wheel hop in the burnout I was pretty easy on it. Leaving at 2500 rpm with little wheel spin. On Adam's pass it spun really nasty, I assume he was leaving harder after it didn't spin on the first pass....

Shit happens. This week allot of shit happened.

btw, for some reason my lip is a lil sore this morning.

LOL. It was the little short guy that attempts to drive Cory and Kyle's old silver/black car. I think his name is Shawn. I've noticed that when his dad drives it the car goes straight and runs a number. Weird.

Thanks for putting on the event Brooks. I know there are a lot of factors to make everything run smoothly, sometimes it is beyond your control. I am just glad no-one was hurt after several close calls. I ran into several guys that I have not seen in a long time, Manny, Mike Kelly and Steve. Good to see you guys again! Looking forward to the next one.
