Ran the GTP for the first time tonight. VERY IMPRESSED!

Well I remember when these cars came out in 97 & I bought a 98 SS back in 99. Anyways I remember racing one at the strip who had the pulley & Cold Air & Tune & he ran high to mid 13s all day while my 98 SS ran mid to low 13s. From that momment I knew I had to own one!

So I bought a 2000 Grand Prix GTP Silvermist!

Bone Stock, Only mod was a K&N Cone Airfilter & took out the headlight.

1st pass 9.687 @ 72.05 mph

2nd pass 9.605 @ 72.85 mph

I havent even changed the oil on this thing! It has 129,432 miles on it.

My goal is to run consistant 8.80s with the car!

What mods do I need to do to get it running mid 13s in short with out stressing out the transmission.. Also my Supercharger is freaking HOT AS &%$( after I drive it or race it. How do I get this Supercharger to stay cool. I know if I can keep it cool I will gain HP & ET!

They are ok! But the quality of the way they where built shows. I would save your money & get a honda unless you can get one for $2000!

Dont get my wrong! I like the car cause it has 4 drs & I can still haul the kids around. But the transmisson's are the weak point & it has all sorts of little shit that can break on them.

But for now, I will just enjoy it till I can sell it or trade it! I paid $3500 for mine & think I over paid by $500, The only reason I wanted this one was cause it was so clean & the guy just had the trans rebuilt to the tune of 3k.

yeah i would either do headers/pulley/tune or just go straight to intercooler/pulley/tune. either should help out a lot.

Guys that run drag radials on those things get prety good 60 foot times, especially for it being a heavy fwd car. But its your transmission...

The trans is the weak link for sure. I'm going to assume that the blower is similiar to the lightning and cobra blowers. If you start spinning them harder you're going to have bearing problems and in head and such. Also change the blower oil in it. Chances are it hasn't been serviced before.

I cant believe how hot the supercharger gets! The trans was just rebuilt, But I want to make my trans last & live. I have dropped my jack & spare. Of course last night I ran with a Half Tank of gas!

I think they make a shift kit for these transmissons & someone said to use a aftermarket converter cause the stock converters are hard on modded GTPs. Something to do with the aftermarket converter is easier on the transmisson. Thats my main concern.

On both 9.60 pass's I pulled a 2.1 60ft which I thought was damn good for a FWD car that is heavy as a pig! Not sure where else I can drop weight off the car without it affecting my daily driver creature comforts.

I need to figure out how to cool this supercharger down. I know I can hear it when im not in boost!

There is a hump in the exhaust, a buddy of mine has one and he mentioned getting that piece of the exhaust redone with a straight pipe. That is supposed to help some as well as the other mods you mentioned.

That is called the U-bend and you replace it with what they all the unbend delete.

I have a ZZP 3 inch shorty downpipe and a U-bend delete from a set of headers I installed on a 3800SC Fiero. Those two items will help alot on getting the exhaust side opened up on the car. I will sell both for $75 if you are interested in them. You could take the 2 items and either get a high flow CAT added in the middle or just a str* pipe.

Also you need to add a CAI to the car to open up the intake side. You can make this easly out of sewer pipe/connector that you buy from Home Dept.

You can drop to a 3.4 pulley and gain alot but will need to have a basic tune done along with dropping a heat range colder on the plugs(AL 104s).

Also the M90 love the spray so of course that is a route you can take but with cautions of course.

These are pretty simple MODs that don't cost alot but give pretty good gains on the car. If you plan to start adding MODs then you need to invest in a scanner to monitor the car while running it. Of course like mentioned the trans is the weak point but you have a ways to go before worring alot about it.

My DD is a modded ICed 3800SC Fiero so I can help you out on things if needed on the car. I have also done 6 or so other swaps into Fieros using the 3800SC.
