New Z28 runs 16.5's in the 1/4

I saw it with my own eyes. Every run it dead hooked. I swear! I talked to the owner. His name was Willard. Nice guy. I took a shot of the car.

I thought it would run a little better? Honest!

I actually owned a brand new '79 Z28. I bought it at Carter Chevrolet in McKinney when I was 19. With a close-ratio 4 speed and 3.73's (factory!), she ran a 14.9 on Goodyear Polysteel radials. Only mods were a carb/timing adjustment and I made the hoodscoop functional for a "cold air" effect.

We all know it won't make that kind of power if you dyno it in 5th gear...

I lived in Richardson and searched every dealer in the metroplex for that combo. Carter had 2 Z28's in the back with all the pick-up trucks, with an inch of dust on them. They had a white T-Top, auto car that was loaded, and the dark blue, plain-jane (except the aluminum turbine wheels) 4 speed car that I bought.
