Worst accident in motorsports history?

Today is the 55th anniversary of the worst one I can imagine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1955_Le_Mans_disaster

Up to 120 killed and 100+ injured. Imagine a hood flying through the crowd decapitating spectators and a massive fire afterwards killing dozens more. Top that with fire fighters trying to extinguish a magnesium fire with water.

Needless to say safety has come a long way since.

Raptor 700R
No fast cars though

it's only a sport if you can die as a spectator...........auto racing, monster trucks and soccer matches, are the only sports left on earth.

Didn't realize there was a video, holy crap. A hood at 190 mph can really tear some people up.

As well as a hood and lots of other car parts. Even the driver apparently ended up there.
