I am posting this thread cause I hear alot of people who say they have 6 sec street cars.

So lets define what is a street car?

My thought is a street car has the following to make it a street car

RADIO
AC
Power Steering, ( BUT THIS IS OPTIONAL ON 5.0's)
DOT Wall tires
NO BIG & LITTLES

If you are missing 3 of above then in my eyes you are a race car & you are just brave enough to drive it on the street.

street car is you can drive it on the street and not get in trouble with the po po...aka inspected..registered..and licence plate

If you have 3 off the list. That is a Race Car. If you still have the compressor on the car. then that doesn't count. That just means you like to sweat rather then have ac

well i dont see a radio or ac making it any more or less of a street car being as back in the day some cars didnt have either.

I just think it is impressive if a car has AC & PS & RADIO & Rims bigger then 15s that can run 6s

That is a street car. You should see JC's "street" car. Cleanest cobra (red 97) I have ever seen. I think his car would give Manny's car one hell of a run.

I think "full weight" has to be on the list. Some guys have no interior, etc.

Must be emission legal...NO PAPER TAGS....and full intr, AC I dont think counts because you can go to a dealership and by a car with no AC....

WORKING windshield wipers
full interior (less a back seat - because 'vettes don't have back seats)
Spare tire in the trunk
Glass (no plexiglass or lexan)
working lights/turn signals
A WORKING HORN!

I say a street car is a car that can drive on the street with no problems, like over heating etc. Just because it has A/C, P/S, and P/B doesn't make it more of a street car.
If you can drive it to the track, hopefully drive it home, and make some decent passes - it's a street car, plain and simple.

I drove my old Vega to and from the track, wheelie bars, wing, full exhaust - it ran [email protected], and drove it home.

My old motor in the Mustang - It still had all of the accessories and interior. It ran a best of [email protected] With the stock wheels on it, you'd never know it was that fast.

This season, I've already said it before, I'll drive to the track, make some passes and drive it home. It should run at least 5.50's.

My other "goal" for this season is to run a 5.999 on 17" drag radials.

And I'm covering any year in general...it could be a 34 Ford 3 window all the way up to a current Gallardo

The vega never had any of the creature comforts you mention above. So it's stock in that respect.

The mustang ran faster with less motor and probably 500# more weight, with all of the accessories still in place including interior and all. It even used factory electronics.

Now, the 3rd scenario - I'd agree, it's a race car with street tires - but I will drive it on the street often.

If it can make it around town with no problems and make it home on it's own power - it's a street car plain and simple. It still has power locks and power windows for cryin' out loud!

A street car. Say for example, a certain Trans Am that I once knew. Drove from Dallas to Ennis with the owner video taping other cars who cruised to SLP day. Anyway, said Trans Am popped off mid 11s and drove home w/ A/C and CD player.

Here's why.

I took my car with a T400 and 9" to Baton Rouge for a race in 04. No PS, had ac though. On big n Littles. Busted off some low 10's and had to tow JOHN back in his LS1 wagon cause the tranny blew up. If that aint a street car, you need to have your thoughts checked Drove there at over 90 mph all the way and still got 25+ mpg.

I can do that...No trades on the Crow...

Its a race car cause you cant beat it or keep up!
