It's a joke. China lacks one big thing that it needs to suceed. Can anyone name that?

Cheese. Chinese don't like cheese. Everyone knows that to make anything work, it just needs cheese.

I have a business that does just fine. Never had a bail-out. I'd guess I would fall into the "capitalism" category.

Your business doing fine doesn't eliminate the major corporations that AREN'T/WEREN'T, that received bailouts from the federal government to keep their doors open. That isn't capitalism.

That WILL change, beginning today. Call it what you like. You're smarter than I am. If you think it's not, try some of the other "systems" that are out there.

I hope it will change. I'm not smarter than you are, I just don't like what this country has been doing the last few years. It downright pisses me off, which is why I try and stay out of this forum so I don't get myself worked up over something I can do little to affect.

Don't forget they're kicking our asses at the respective trade/tariff/currency games at present. They just don't have a wide open internal market. If I had to pigeon hole their system, I'd call it a totalitarian oligarchy, with a disingenuous but declared populist policy, ala 1984.

China has some elements of capitalism but it lacks freedom. You have to have freedom in order to have true capitalism. That is a basic lesson of Milton Friedman.

That is one of the reasons I don't invest in China. I used to own stock in a Chinese telecom company. One day the government came in and took over a good portion of the business, which was functioning fine and the stock took a dump.

Say what you want about capitalism in this country, it isn't like that and won't ever be like that. China will be a paper tiger as long as shit like that can happen.

I may be down on our big government, but man, some people are down on this country. Just look at the reponses. No wonder immigrants (some illegals, too) do better here than some of our own people.

Exactly. Like things are any better in China where you have to take out a 100 year mortgage to buy a fucking house.

Really, who is in charge of China now? Tell me that, Einstein. Maybe we should bring back Chairman Mao, boy he did a great job! How many children did he starve to death with his bullshit?

If you like China so god damned much, pack your bags and beat your fucking feet, they'll let you move right on in, I'm sure.
