The UK's tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employee's by bank transfer.
They need extra cash flow so that they don't have to borrow short term. The keep everyone's paycheck for two week and use the cash, then return the money. Instant interest free loan.

Not all that suprising, these people have put up with all kinds of insane shit from their government for the past 1000 years. In medieval times you could be executed for suggesting the fact that the king could die.

If the IRS did that here the reasoning would no doubt be to preemptively eliminate tax cheating. The obammy nuthuggers would be stupid enough to fall in line with it too.

Yep, as insane as this sounds I could see it happening here. Just with a spin on the wording. Anyone who didnt want to give up their check to support the obamacare or whatever the reasoning was would be labeled a domestic terrorist.

Could happen. At one point in our country it was illegal to criticize the draft, and was punishable by 10 years in prison.

when ever you move money around electronically you are usually told that it takes 2-4 business days before the money hits the account. your money does not just disappear, and magically appear in your account a few days later. instead that money goes into a pool with everyone else who is moving money around, and they use that money to make more money. they get away with this because the FED guarantees this with a lone. it comes down to mathematics.

That is called float.

And it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Unless you are retarded.

what is your point? yea, holding money gains interest. Sounds like the interest gained is going to make them money.

The OP added the commentary about the 2 week hold (float), so I can see where he's coming from.

Now, about suggesting the king die in midieval times, how about suggesting that BHO is a prick in present times?

Yeah I was about to say, that its almost bred into them. I so glad we showed them and the world that there was another, far better way. I wish I could see the looks on all their faces back then when they received the declaration of independence. A dark day for the divine right of kings, indeed.

It has always pissed me off that when I pay for something, you better believe that money comes right out of my account. Usually that very day, sometimes within minutes. But when I get paid? Sheeeeeiat. Time to wait for the check to clear. Or when I want to move some money from my Bank of America account to my paypal account so that I can pay for something? Time to wait 4 business days. No exaggeration.

I make a good bit of interest on the money that I let the IRS hold onto.
