California has terrible cuts coming

Quote:
May 11 (Bloomberg) -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will seek “terrible cuts” to eliminate an $18.6 billion budget deficit facing the most-populous U.S. state through June 2011, his spokesman said.
...
Schwarzenegger’s newest plan will revise the proposals introduced in January to account for the tax-collection shortages. In January, the governor said California may have to eliminate entire welfare programs, including the main one that provides cash and job assistance to families below the poverty line, without an influx of cash from the federal government.

Forget the wall along the border with Mexico. We're going to need a bigger one between us and New Mexico to keep the Californians out!

They wont cut a damned thing until this shit all blows up in their faces. Then they'll cry for a bailout.

Fuck them. Let them rot on the Vine.

The legislature is the problem. Arnold can prepare "terrible cuts" all he wants to, but until the legislature does something nothing will happen. And nothing will happen with the legislature until the state goes totally bankrupt. Because the legislature is lined with hardcore liberals, that don't understand budgets and living within your means.

OTOH, I have noticed that anti-liberal political advertising is really on a roll out here right now. Maybe california needs to go stone cold broke as a learning lesson.

There will be a bailout, and we'll end up paying for all the unemployed, under-employed, bad mortgages, etc. That state won't change much. We can look to Greece and see California in the next year.

This is just an anecdotal observation, but California is the most populous US state, has arguably the "best" real-estate available, has ports, home to the tech industry, and is home to the US's largest/2nd largest (depends on who you ask) export yet it's flat broke.

If you want to know what liberalism applied to the nation as a whole would look like look no further than California, our own personal test bed so to speak, it doesn't work.

Again, just an anecdotal observation, but if it can't work in a state with such great assets it damn sure won't work in a shithole like Mississippi.

This is true. California has every conceivable advantage - sunny weather, high tech companies, good schools. But then it is sabotaged by high taxes, illegal immigrants, liberal politics, and the occasional earthquake/wildfire. I kind of enjoy working out here, but i damn wouldn't want to live out here.

Liberalism cannot sustain itself without a bail out and I don't Kali-forn-ya changing anytime soon. I smell another bail out coming.

I want to watch and laugh as they die slowly. Then piss on their corpses.

The part that I don't understand is, how is it that they don't learn a lesson. I mean they have been right there on the ground floor, and their commie ways didn't work out. But once they get a bailout, they still won't change. Most people realize it when they can simply no longer sustain something. That something just doesn't work. I really don't understand their mentality.
