Socialism works, till you run out of OPM

Some young Greeks prefer to blame their elders for the mountain of debt that has resulted in Greece, like a wayward child, being placed under the tutelage of the men from the IMF.

“I cannot help but blame my parents a little for what’s happened,” said Achilles Zacharoulis, a 36-year-old cardiologist. “They were here all that time,” he added, referring to the past three decades of mismanagement and fiscal insanity. “But what did they do to stop it?”

...

Economists regard the bloated civil service with its jobs for life and generous pensions as a cancer consuming the country’s resources. The older generation, the experts grimly concur, turned the state into a giant cash machine to be plundered at will.

Difference is U.S. baby boomers don't nearly all work in civil service or anything close to nearly all.

Well you're half right perhaps.

Obama is a baby boomer (presumably), and he and his baby boomer/generation X nuthuggers in Congress might very well ruin us. He is not, however, in the AARP.

we are on the same path with our debt, we can fix it one of two ways, major spending and budget cuts, or raise taxes, pick your poison

Major spending and budget cuts will fix it you say? Please show me a example of a country with our amount of debt that spent and cut it's way back to recovery.

Our government needs our help, they have an addiction. Our government is addicted to our money. Since they always have our best interest at heart it's time we return the favor. We need to have an intervention, for the governments own good of course. It's just irresponsible for us to let people with a known money addiction continue to handle our money. Lets have an intervention now so we can help these sick individuals.

You can't ask that question. There is no answer. No country has have had more debt than us.

It's clear from here that he intended that statement to read "major spending cuts & major budget cuts"...

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

That's impossible, major spending cuts are unspeakable in Washington.

Instead of raising taxes, our government needs hire more employees to pursue the millions of people filing fraudulent returns.
