Get to spend Friday with Warren Buffett

I'm obviously pretty excited about the opportunity. A group of 25 of McCombs MBA's is headed out to Omaha Thursday night. We will be spending 6 hours with Buffett the next day. This is one of the coolest opportunities I've had; I just hope some of the stupid/fluff questions get voted down before we leave. Oh, and per Buffett, there had to be X number of females who got selected to go on the trip.

That is a great opportunity. It reminds me of a friend of mine who took him to lunch almost 20 years ago. He was a self starter and ran into him one day. He offered to buy Buffett lunch if he would just sit and talk with him one day. Much to his amazement he accepted. He talked very highly of the man and that experience.

There are prominent people that would gladly pay you very good money, if they could take your seat. What a great opportunity.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty pumped. I've had the chance to meet quite a few amazing people over the last two years through the Fund. Met and shot the shit with James Barrow, Tom Hicks, John Mcstay, got grilled for about 20 minutes by Pat Dorsey over a stock pitch, took a class from Sheridan Titman.

I think this will trump them all.

Dammit man! That really is kickass.

Congrats!

Lemme know how many years he thinks we have left, and where he's moving too when it finally does implode...

Thats awesome man. Ask him if he would consider taking the entire class on a train ride. Being he just bought a new model railroad I don't think it would be a problem lol.

I did a research project on Buffett while I was in college and there were alot of things I found out about him that really suprised me. One big question I have, but doubt I'd have the balls to ask it is what are his plans for his companies and holdings after he dies. I mean the guy is getting up there in age and someone as savy as Buffett only comes around once in a 100 years if your lucky.

from what i understand, he's supposed to liquidate the majority of his assets and give them to the bill gates foundation and a few other charities. his kids are supposed to get a few mil, but nothing like what you would think, considering his net worth.

Ask him if he wants to donate 1 share of BRK-A to a poor recent college graduate. Heck, I'll take a share of B if he won't go for A.

Congrats, that's a heck of an opportunity. Take good notes and share them with your fellow Stangers.

Well, found out today that a lot of the fluff questions got voted out and that my question got the most votes. During the formal Q&A portion, I will be asking him:

One of the greatest dangers facing the US is the level of national debt and the rapidly expanding deficit. Our latest budget deficit is $1.5 trillion and the privately and publicly held debt level is approximately $12 trillion, representing 80% of GDP. If we include unfunded liabilities, such as Social Security & Medicare, this number skyrockets to $60 trillion. If this situation is correctable, what steps need to be taken to remedy the problem?

Can you work in, "What is your favorite color?"

Seriously, Jody, that is cool as hell. I would also like to know what his expectations are for this country's economy if we stay on our current course (with timelines).

Ha. Well, a lot of my buddies from the Fund here are taking video cameras and we have 6 hours of time with him. So, I'm sure there will be lots of opportunities to get his take on things. I know a friend of mine from the Fund two years ago went on this trip and Buffett rode in his rental car with him from one location to the next. I was like, "Holy fuck, you basically got 30 minutes alone with Buffett on a car-ride to shoot the shit?" That kind of access is priceless.

He said that Buffett told him to start his own investment fund, and that was the true path to happiness and wealth. I'll be damned if he isn't running his own fund now. Of course, the fact that his dad is 2nd in charge at Barrow Hanley and seeded him $20 MM to start it didn't hurt.

Fuck, I wish my parents were rich. I can't even find a job.

Ya, time alone with him would be priceless, unless it would be with someone like me. I'd have to tell him, "Get daown!" every time we cruised by the high schools. LOL

From what I have seen of him in the past on Sqawk box, he'll say that at some point taxes will have to be raised.

I think he is on the show for three hours on Monday.

Maybe Warren has a spot for a sharp, young guy with an MBA from McCombs?
Might as well take full advantage of this opportunity!

Ha, I wish. Buffett is a funny, very entertaining old man. I could definitely see him at the boobie bar. It was an ass beating doing this trip in 30 hours, just got back home a little while ago. I'll post a little more details about the trip later.
