LMAO at CNN!!!

They spent 15 minutes interviewing a rep from Toyota, explaining how to put your car in neutral, turn on your hazards and coast safely to the side of the road if your gas pedal sticks.

Ignore the banging off the rev limiter part, no big deal.

eh, if they say "reach up and turn off the engine" some dumbass would sue them for telling him to drive his car with the steering wheel locked and nearly killing himself.

True, but they might end up losing more money if they have to replace all the blown motors. Unless they actually have a lower rev limiter in neutral like some other cars do.

The brakes on a toyota have to be able to lockdown, the japs don't see the stop sign until the rast minute.

Stuck bigtime on my Cobra, at least a couple times, necessitating a recall.

Too bad the "kick it into neutral" trick didn't work on those Ford SUV's with Firestone tires.

Actually, the cars in question don't have an actual key input for ignition, just realized that, so how would they turn the cars off anyways? If you hit engine stop when you're driving does the steering lock, does it actually do anything? Or does the brake pedal have to be pressed at the same time? I guess if so, the only option would be to throw it in neutral, which would sure fuck some shit up.

That is still better than the alternative.

I still don't like the drive by wire idea.

Ask your wives and girlfriends how they would deal with a stuck gas pedal.

See how many would immediately go for the emergency brake.

The other night, I asked my wife that question and she hadn't thought to do that. She does now.

My brilliant mother-in-law had hers stick in her new Yukon before. She had the floormats upside down which caused it. She was doing 75 and just threw it in park. Surprisingly it just came to a slow stop on the side of the road.

I just went to Toyota of Richardson and they have like 300 cars surrounding their service department. This recall has them in complete chaos.

Our government needs our help, they have an addiction. Our government is addicted to our money. Since they always have our best interest at heart it's time we return the favor. We need to have an intervention, for the governments own good of course. It's just irresponsible for us to let people with a known money addiction continue to handle our money. Lets have an intervention now so we can help these sick individuals.

I would assume that's who the report was directed at.

Ha! Funny cause it's true. But seriously though, there is no keyed start/killswitch on these things? Man that does make you wonder what you would do. I guess just sacrifice the engine and hope toyota buys you a new one if it breaks.

Ford wanted to soften the ride on the Explorer. Fastest way was to lower tire pressure in those tires. What happens to tires that are run underinflated?

They blow up.

Fun when that happens in a top heavy vehicle no doubt...

ROFL!

How does the actual slogan go? "Toyota. Moving forward." Or is it "Toyota, moving you forward."
