Perry for President...

I'll be honest from the get go. I've never really thought much of Rick Perry, but most of that was because I always just read the headlines and never the entire story's that have been written about him. Plus we have all heard the jokes of Mr. Good Hair and Gov. 39% but after reading this article it has kind of opened my eyes and maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt. Its a long article but has alot of vaild points and paints a pretty strong picture of Perry in an unbias way.

Rick Perry doesn't even deserve the job he currently has.

Our government needs our help, they have an addiction. Our government is addicted to our money. Since they always have our best interest at heart it's time we return the favor. We need to have an intervention, for the governments own good of course. It's just irresponsible for us to let people with a known money addiction continue to handle our money. Lets have an intervention now so we can help these sick individuals.

You say that but the NRA has endorsed him...

However the NRA did qualify their endorsement with this statement:

The NRA also commended Hutchison for her support of gun rights.

"It is the policy of the National Rifle Association to always endorse the incumbent unless something has happened that is so egregious that you are not going to do that," said NRA board member Susan Howard-Chrane.
I'm no fan of Perry's but what has he done to hurt our 2nd amendment rights?

Before any of you jump on the Perry bandwagon, think about the timing of this "New Perry" and how it will benefit him.

he did nothing when the federal government came to texas and required texans to have special permits to sell their firearms at gun shows. (there was a thread on this last week)

Perry's just trying to take the same path that Dubya took. I've been "OK" with Perry, because, frankly, nothing better has come along. Remember Ann Richards? On that note, Medina suits my needs as far as Guv, but I don't know if she can pull it out.

Everybody who supports her needs to spread the word. It's going to take some work to get her elected but she has had some substantial jumps in polling numbers.

Ok, read the articles in that thread. Sorry, not Perry's fault there. The Feds didn't even do the shutdown. It was the Austin PD that did. The Feds had a role in it but ultimately it was the Austin chief of police that made that decision.

Rick Perry doesn't have a lot of say in what the Austin Police does. Maybe he should have been vocal in his opposition to their actions but that hardly makes him anti gun. The guy that runs that gun show has a case against them and I'm sure he'll win if he goes to court (article doesn't say if he is going to court or not).

As rabid as the NRA is about protecting gun rights, I don't think they would have given him the nod if he were any kind of threat to those rights...

This is why I'm primarily supporting Hutchinson at this point. I don't consider her a HUGE improvement but she is definitely an improvement over Governor Good Hair. Madina would be a home run but she need to keep improving her numbers and force a run off for the nomination.
