Obama picks Bush to go to Haiti

Seems that George W. Bush, you know the one that hates blacks and is inept? Yeah, that one, has been picked to be a special envoy to Haiti.

Once the 'change' candidate, Obama now a changed man

WASHINGTON β€” Nearing the end of his first year in office, President Barack Obama is in many ways a changed man.

He's stayed the course on his highest-profile goals, still reaching for universal health care, still striving for a global pact to curb global warming.

Governing has proved to be far different from campaigning, however. The world looked different once elected. The economy raced even faster toward collapse and Afghanistan worsened. Congress turned out more difficult. The world proved resistant to his charms.

Obama's unusual transition: Already a co-president

WASHINGTON β€” America has never seen anything quite like this: The president and president-elect acting like co-presidents, consulting and cooperating on the day's biggest crises.

"It's pretty unusual," said George Edwards, a presidential expert at Texas A&M University, in College Station.

What Princeton University professor Julian Zelizer calls "the split-screen presidency" is the result of several historic forces converging this fall:

Obama: Change 'comes from me,' not his appointees
Obama: Change 'comes from me,' not his appointees

WASHINGTON β€” President-elect Barack Obama essentially said Wednesday that he is the change, striving to assure Americans that he'll shake up Washington despite filling his administration with old hands from the Clinton administration and the capital's corridors of power.

"Understand where the vision for change comes from, first and foremost," Obama said. "It comes from me. That's my job, is to provide a vision in terms of where we are going, and to make sure, then, that my team is implementing."

Obama made the remarks as he tapped another old Washington hand β€” this one former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, as a top economic adviser β€” and prepared to name his former rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., as secretary of state next week.

4 Ky. Appalachian counties proud they went for Obama

FRANKFORT, Ky. β€” Lonesome amidst a swath of Republican red on the political map of Kentucky are four Eastern Kentucky counties painted blue by President-elect Barack Obama.

Republican John McCain swept 112 of the Bluegrass State's 120 counties, but not the Appalachian counties of Elliott, Menifee, Wolfe and Rowan. Those four also voted Democratic in the 2004 presidential election, but so did seven other neighboring counties.

This time, the only Kentucky counties that voted for Obama besides those four were the two most populous, Jefferson and Fayette, and Henderson and Hancock in Western Kentucky.

This will not end well
This will not end well

A traveler asks a farmer how to get to a particular village. The farmer replies, ``If I were you, I wouldn't start from here.'' Barack Obama, who asked to be president, nevertheless deserves sympathy for having to start where America is in Afghanistan.

But after 11 months of graceless disparagements of the 43rd president, the 44th acts as though he is the first president whose predecessor bequeathed a problematic world. And Obama's second new Afghanistan policy in less than nine months strikingly resembles his predecessor's plan for Iraq, which was: As Iraq's security forces stand up, U.S. forces will stand down.

Having vowed to ``finish the job,'' Obama revealed Tuesday that he thinks the job in Afghanistan is to get out of Afghanistan. This is an unserious policy.
By JULIE PACE
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama has reached out to former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton to help with U.S. relief efforts in Haiti.

Enlisting ex-presidents' help in responding to a natural disaster is just what Bush did in 2004 after a tsunami ripped across Asia. Back then, it was Clinton and President George H.W. Bush who assisted in relief efforts.

Obama thought Bush's decision to mobilize the former presidents was a good one, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday. Obama called George W. Bush and Clinton on Wednesday to discuss their involvement; details will be announced in the coming days.

Gibbs said the Obama administration's criticism of Bush's actions during the response to Hurricane Katrina were irrelevant.

"I think if you asked George Bush whether the government acted up to its ability in responding to Katrina, I think the answer to that would be 'no,'" Gibbs said. "The actions that were taken to deal with the humanitarian crisis from the tsunami, on the other hand, I think worked quite well."

Osama has figured it out the he and his Czars don't have any experience with disaster relief. They been so busy training for Socialism, transfer of wealth and the culling a natural disaster probably never came up.

Your right. I should think that someone who got elected President with less than 6 months experience in Federal Government is far more knowledgeable than a pasts Presidents who handled several wars, terrorist attacks and other natural disasters.

Yep, one of the longest standing politicians in the House would be different because you like him, right? LMAO, no wonder why I think you RP nuthuggers are no better than crazy, hypocritical, and lying liberals.

Why go back in time? That kind of thinking is idiotic. Not only are you RP nuthuggers still pining for him you won't let Bush's Presidency go either, just like the hate-filled liberals.

Imagine that, RP nuthuggers being in bed with liberal thinking! Where have we heard that from? (pssst, the answer is: from me!)

You have to seperate the man from the policies he advocated.

While I disagree with a lot of bush's policies (spending!), the man himself is pretty admirable, in spite of what the MSM tells you. He went thru 9-11, endless criticism from the MSM, endless criticism of his youth and military service, many jokes about his mannerisms, many attempts by the dems to prosecute his team, and endured a democratic congress at the end of his term. As for his character, you only have to look at obama to understand where he was - there is no comparison.

When 9-11 happened, he manned up and bombed the fuck out of afganistan. What do you think that obama would have done?

There is no doubt in my mind that he would do whatever he can do on site in haiti, including moving rocks under a building if that is what is needed.

If you wanted a more clear distinction between Obama and Bush, look at their vacations:

Bush cleared brush and worked the land

Obama went to Hawaii and had snowcones

I don't think I need to go any further

im not a rpnuthugger.i actually voted for bush twice.i regret the second vote but what do you do.he looked good at first but he turned out bad.

bush was the man we elected and besides not taking any shit from other countries,he did a shit job.i had bigger hopes for bush.after dealing with bush rp's focus points all looked good with the exception of foreign policy.maybe my comment was alittle harsh but then again...

Facts may be facts.

That doesn't mean Bush approved the 9/11 attacks. I can't have an intelligent conversation with a moron. Stop being a moron.

How about you attempt to write a coherent post that has some semblance of structure and grammar? I say try it for a whole week, then you can go back to your "texting" style of writing. I bet you can't do it.

What you write and the way you write it make you look like a complete imbecil.

I think Bush (both of them) are honorable and decent men. I also think Reagan, Carter, and RP are also.

When considering people who have asked you for a vote, who do you include in the "decent and honrable" category? Can you give more than one or are you jsut able to attack those who put their lists out like a coward?
