Rattling the House - Dems getting scared?

Quote:
A Democratic senator from Nebraska who played a crucial role in getting health care legislation passed in the Senate last month has asked South Carolina's top attorney to "call off the dogs" -- a reference to the state official's threat to challenge the constitutionality of the bill.

In a phone call Thursday, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., urged South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster to reconsider, Politico reported. McMaster is the head of a group of 13 GOP state attorneys general who are threatening to file a lawsuit against the Senate health care bill.

Nelson asked McMaster to "call off the dogs," according to a copy of the memo sent by McMaster's chief of staff to other GOP state attorneys general detailing the call and obtained by Politico.

The attorneys general are challenging the constitutionality of a Medicaid provision in the bill that they say benefits Nebraska at the expense of other states.

The deal Nelson cut with Senate Democratic leaders to gain his critical vote would exempt Nebraska from having to pay for the coverage of new enrollees into its Medicaid program and leave the tab with the federal government -- a move expected to cost Uncle Sam $100 million over the next 10 years.

But Nelson told McMaster that the deal wasn't his idea and that the same Medicaid exemption would be offered to every state, according to the memo.

McMaster told Nelson that the state attorneys were seeking to remove the Nebraska Medicaid provision from the bill and that "he saw no way that he -- nor any of the state attorneys general " will support extending the provision to every state, the memo said.

"Please call off the dogs." Isn't that like the most pointless thing he could possibly say? During a lawsuit, you don't just say "Please stop suing me." and have it actually work...

Bullshit. Someone has to pay.

Ben Nelson has been getting a barrage of negative phone calls on this issue, and the sweetheart deal he negotiated with reid to vote for health care is now in danger of getting challenged/removed as unconstitutional. I wonder if he realizes that he's been played yet?

So what, the healthcare bill just gets suspended in mid air, and hangs over our heads the whole time 'ol dog dick is in office? What kind of bullshit is this? They just try and try and try, and go against the grain as much as they possibly can? If so, then it's really impossible to stop them huh.

What did he expect? I'll love nothing more for the sacrificial lambs to in fact be sacrificed for what turns out to be nothing!

It says a lot about the democratic party, when there's not ONE democrat in the senate that's decent enough to stand up to all this crap...NOT ONE! The pussification of this country STARTED right there in congress! Not out here, but right there in D.C.

There used to be a difference between a "liberal" and a "democrat", but looking at what is going on right now, they are one in the same.

how do you fix healthcare? if you ask congress you will get 535 different answers, so there is going to be a massive compromise to please 60% of them, and in the end no one is really going to like it. as I have been saying from the beginning this bill is about money, not people or doctors. its about who's going to pay, and who's going to get payed, the fist step in a redistribution of wealth.

60% of congress approves a bill that will fuck 100% of us. Good call.

It doesn't matter if congress likes it or doesn't like it, all that matters is if the majority of the American people like it, and currently, the majority of Americans do NOT like it. Congress needs to either start listening to the American populace again, or get ready to face angry lynch mobs.

Honestly, I could give a shit less whether it gets "fixed" right now...

True, the system is FAR from perfect, but there are so many other things that need attention right now, I just don't see this whole "galactic sized" mind set in the liberal brain where health care is the most ominous issue facing Americans right now.... and the ONLY solution is to have the "incredible" minds of the federal government to step in... and we must have it NOW, or people will start dying tomorrow.... Hence we have to hold a vote during Christmas holiday to vote on something many have not even read, much less understand....

All while we have soldiers in harms way, 10% unemployment, and nut bags from Yemen who want to blow up planes for "Allah"....

All it is is crap that has been a pet project for socialists for years, and we've been dumb enough to give them the window to get it... the window is closing, so they're sealing the deal. That's it... that's all there is to it... Happy Friggin Obama Year....
