.Gov = Cookies?

Heard Beck mention something about this a few days ago and was wondering the legitimacy. A fast Google search turned up a Fox article about said subject, but I'm not sure if they have implemented this program yet. Considering the Cars.gov disclaimer, I wouldn't doubt it.

Anybody have a straight answer?

Tracking cookies. Yup. They also have a bill in committee to take the internet down entirely in the event of an unspecified "emergency"

Fun stuff.

Anti-spyware and virus programs will get rid of the cookies.

It's not the fact that they are easily defeated....for now. It is the fact that the gov. is engaging in this sort of activity in the first place.

Edit: And before you come back with the liberal bread n butter tactic (moral equivalency) and say "Bush did it" I was against it then just as much as now.

Besides the fact that it's your, my, our government spying on you? Yeah, programs might get rid of the cookies, but the government has your computer tagged from there on out just by the IP that they sniff when you visit their site.

I don't recall taking a stance on whether I think they have the right to put spyware on your computer but good job jumping the gun anyway.

You're pretty predictable. Not hard to guess which fork of the road you tend to take.

Ip's can be ditched/changed just like a cookie, if you know how. I don't see how they could ever "shut down the internet" cause much of it's based on hard wire phone lines connected to severs. They would have to individually shut down every independent server out there. I think their best bet would be just to kill the power. That wouldn't stop everyone, but it would make it too big of a pain for most. Due to you having to come up with an alternate power source to run your servers and desktops.

I can't be too predictable because if you think I'm OK with the government using spyware and wanting an "off" button to the internet then you're wrong.

Assuming makes an ass out of u & me.

But you seem to be perfectly fine with advocating violence against women!

Fine. Let all them. We have to keep a tighter leash on the government. They don't get the same luxuries and rights as the private sector.
