Watching CSPAN

And I'm watching the Republican from Arizona get shot down repeatedly. He is saying "we can cut 1 million here, 500,000 there and why is there 2 million set aside for a museum that isn't even built yet?" He's being shot down by the dems every time.

He's been up to bat 3 times and his arguements against earmarks have been about 6-10 million bucks so far and the dems keep screaming "but we NEEEEED it"

We're up to 4 times. He's doing everything but standing on his chair and screaming "Are you serious? We're 2 trillion in debt and you're still blowing money???"

Maybe he should stand on his chair and scream.

Seems to be the norm for the dems. There was another bill that got passed and a republican amendment that would set circuit breakers to suspend the bill if certain limits were passed was also summarily killed. So the spending will continue no matter what!

Isn't this what we were all promised? The "we won, you lost, sit down and shut up" routine? The only time Republicans are asked for input is when visitors to the Capitol need to know where the restrooms are at.

I believe that this is the new transparency that obama talked about. It is now crystal clear that the dems will spend money no matter what it does to the country.

It's been mentioned repeatedly "You're killing any input by the Republicans. What the hell?" And the Dems just smile and say "fuck you."

I hope 2010 rights things

The military holds a VIP fleet that costs 10k per hour? Really? Republicans want a bill to post up the costs for congress flying overseas on these flights and requires the member of congress to post up the costs online.

True.

To be honest, the Republicans would do the same thing if they had the House, Senate, and Presidency. There would be no debate or input, it would be rubber stamped party-line bullshit. Although I don't think it would be quite as expensive.

I don't think it'd be as childish as cutting off the mics and turning out the lights, either.

But, you're right to a point.

I loved how Pelosi did that last summer "Tired of talking, I'm going home. Who cares if gas hits 4 bucks a gallon?"

There's no record of Reps doing that. Right here in Texas a few years ago, the Dems hauled ass to Oklahoma to duck a vote. The party, as a rule, is full of chickenshits...

No record, because they haven't had the opportunity. I wouldn't put it past them. Both parties only give what is necessary to pass an agenda. If it requires no bipartisanship, then there will be none.

This is 100% correct and why we need a reform of how long elected officials are in office. Heck, I'd like to see a reform that did away with party lines all together. I'd rather see you vote for a complete ticket every time -- POTUS/House/Senate candidates all on one ticket. You get 3 years and you can't run for reelection unless the country votes for you to be on the ticket again in a preliminary election. My theory that way is there would be no excuses for not getting something accomplished since you had control over everything.

Giving all of the power to one group of people? I'm not sure where to begin with this one...

the problem now is there are no checks. The point of having our government is the balance of someone wanting something and another branch saying "no, fuck you."
