A Texan is going to run GM

Anyone see the news where Ed Whitacre the retired CEO of AT&T is coming out of retirement to run GM as soon as it emerges from Bankruptcy. I wonder what kind of shake up he will bring to Detroit and why he'd want to take on GM. He surely can't be doing it for the money. If I remember right I think his retirement package from AT&T was some where in the neighborhood of 150 million give or take a few million.

I have to agree with a quote from former Treasury Secretary William E. Simon: "Bad politicians are sent to Washington by good people who don't vote."

When he ran AT&T, the original SBC goobled up regional bell companies as the FCC turned a blind eye to it. I don't see the government tilting the playing field to his favor this time around.
