American Legion Interviews Dude from Harvard

http://www.law.harvard.edu/news/2009/06/01_parker.html

In short, helps explain what we already know. However, it is sort of from the horses mouth.

Basically, educated people (academics, politicians) do not think the general public REALLY knows what they want. Therefore, the educated people continue to try and make laws/rules and so forth on our behalf.

No, the educated people do NOT care what you think.

No, pretty sure Doctors don't count as educated people either. Just the snob elitists that fall within certain categories/groups seem to qualify. At least that's the impression I get. I also get the impression those same people could give a shit about America and would never lose a drop of blood on her behalf.

Edit: Full interview is in PDF.

It takes "enlightened" individuals to know what's best for everyone else. For example, just ask the French....

It was a very good read.

Frankly I'm against a Constitutional Amendment to protect the Flag. I think someone should be able to burn it in protest if they want to. But if they do it in front of me, I plan to kick their ass.

I also think his opinions of the founding fathers is flawed. Yes they were elitists but they were also very wise. They made it difficult to amend the constitution in an effort to minimize the powers granted to the government. Unfortunately it has happened anyways, due to the blatant disregard for the 10th amendment.

My biggest problem is that having a degree from Harvard or any other ivy league school doesn't really mean all that much when it comes to how "smart" you are.

I concur with most of what is said in this thread.

I just found it interesting that and obvious elitist, stated what we all knew - but none of the elitist would say. With that said - I respect him a bit since at least he is honest. Still not the kind of dude that'll be around for parties..etc.
