Bingo. Here it is, the ultimate goal of the "green" agenda finally realized.

I am so surprised - it is actually about making more MONEY!! I thought they were interested in saving the earth! I wasn't sure how they were going to control emissions in south America and Asia, but at least we're doing our part.

(this trinket stolen from our own GhostTX in the "Obama's rich supporters... thread)

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124217336075913063.html

-----------

"Mr. Obama's biggest proposed tax increase is the cap-and-trade system of requiring businesses to buy carbon dioxide emission permits. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the proposed permit auctions would raise about $80 billion a year and that these extra taxes would be passed along in higher prices to consumers. Anyone who drives a car, uses public transportation, consumes electricity or buys any product that involves creating CO2 in its production would face higher prices."

----------

I'm simply astounded!!

This could be what destroys his presidency and popularity the fastest. Criminal electric bills will destroy the low income and middle class segments.

Meanwhile the air will be just as filthy as ever since for each American there are 5 Chinese driving around with no cats on their car and burning coal as fast as it can be dug out of the ground.

Yeah, lets enact a law that makes us all suffer while the chinese and indians pollute to their heart's content. That'll certainly pull in the votes!

I'm confused. I thought profit was wrong. Surely the government wouldn't say one thing and do another. Recheck your sources. I refuse to believe we've been lied to
