Your opinion on my thoughts.

What if.

You did not pay income tax? and every other yearly tax out there. As in there where no taxes on your income, or your house. And this tax was replaced by a national sales tax. Say 10% state and 8% federal. This would force the feds to maintain a budget, and encourage the feds to help, instead of hindering manufacturing.

What if all your loans where not compound loans, and where true simple interest loans. In other words, if you borrow $80k on your house you would pay back say, 50% simple interest. This would mean you would pay back $120k instead of $240k on the system that is in place now.

If this was in place now, my wife and I would have an extra $1000 a month to spend. Yes the math took me a year to work out, due to saving every sales slip, and every other transaction that took place.

So this means that we as a people are working so some one else gets the bulk of our money. This does not set well with me.

Another way to look at it. In the system that is currently in place, we do not own anything. We are just leasing it from the feds. Think about it. If you do not pay taxes every year on your house, the feds take it from you. Same with your car/truck.

Post up what you truly think. I may have missed something.

If you like this, send it to your local and federal rep. And post it on every message board you can find.

You can add the fact that a lot of people find ways to NOT pay income tax, as opposed to sales tax. Granted, you'll have ways around it, but it won't be as bad as it is right now.

I just realized this about a year ago, and it bothers the hell out of me. You couldn't pay cash for some land, a house and a car and just live your life, you would have to pay someone something for the rest of your life.

I know someone has to pay for the roads ect, but man...that sucks.

There is enough money generated by sales tax to take care of what the local and federal government is suppose to take care of. This includes roads. But it would not be enough to fund pork, or fill their pockets with our money!

I guess I should have added that the local and feds. percentages should be a max, never to go above this. This would cut out pork also.

How does changing the tax collecting method "force" the federal government to maintain a budget? The answer is, it wouldn't. They can keep selling bonds and growing the debt as much as they like.

I'm all for the FAIR tax (which is actually significantly higher than 10%. But even the proponents of that acknowledge that it wouldn't have any control over government spending.

Nope, to do that you need a balanced budget amendment or you need to give the President a line item veto on budgetary matters. Both would need Constitutional amendments.
