Obama gas tax

I stopped by the convenience store on the way to the airport this morning... I was told that I should fill up since gas is going up another $1 by wednesday of this week. I asked the dude how much would they be making off that increase, but of course he said nothing. I told him he's confusing the cig tax increase for gas, but he swore he wasn't.

I can't find anything on this. Has anyone else heard th same recently?

LOL The price of oil has been rising slowly, so of course fuel prices are going up. As for a $1 increase because of taxes -- don't count on it. I've neither seen nor heard of any legislation that would account for that. You would've heard about it. Sounds like the clerk has no idea.

There are proposals in Congress for upping the gasoline tax by as much as $0.50 but I don't think an actual bill has been introduced yet.

Sounds like he has an idea on how to get customers to fill up!

That would be a way to generate demand for alternative energy.....

You have all seen first hand how sensitive that is vs. gasoline prices...

Whoever proposes and votes for a huge fuel tax hike will be sitting home after the next election.

As much as I despise Obama, I don't see this happening until AT LEAST after the 2010 election. That would get every single dem voted out of office faster than they can pat themselves on the back for a job well done. I have heard of cigarette taxes going up about this much though so....if you smoke, buy up

I guess I just dont understand why you would want to raise the price on something that all people have to have to survive, with the state of the economy it just seems like a great idea. But i guess they will do anything to put more money in their own pockets, and to pay for the trillon plus dollar defeciet we are in now. End rant

Airport gas stations think they're the only ones in existence.

Give me a dollar.

When you have 10 minutes to get your rental car back before your flight, they are.

I'm all for developing and using alternate energy to get off our dependency of oil and with it middle-eastern countries. However, we have our own oil if we'd even just start getting it. Also, we can't do so in a manner that totally fucks the average American.
