Obama signs legislation allowing "union-only" contracts

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today denounced an Executive Order signed by President Obama that repeals Executive Order 13202, that prohibited federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) as a condition of performing work on federal and federally funded construction projects.

Construction contracts subject to union-only PLAs are designed to be awarded exclusively to unionized contractors and their all-union workforces," said Pickerel. "Absent the economic benefits of competitive bidding, union-only PLAs are known to increase construction costs between 10 percent and 20 percent and discriminate against minorities, women and qualified construction workers who have traditionally been excluded from union membership.

This is why I have loaded up on GM and Ford stock . He's not going to let those companies go under . Way too many union folks would lose their jobs and be mighty freakin pissed .

wtf does that mean

I'm having problems following that statement.

"repeals Executive Order 13202,

that prohibited federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign union-only project labor agreements (PLAs)

as a condition of performing work on federal and federally funded construction projects. "

sounds like he stopped union only contracts to me

his stance on unions is something that really scares me. he doesn't try to hide the fact that he's basically a paid spokesperson for the unions...

he repealed (got rid of) the executive order that required federal money to only go to non union workers. so now federal money can go to either union or non union.

the previous executive order allowed contracts to go to union or non union companies...obama has apparently signed another order getting rid of this, so now federal contracts can only be awarded to contractors/subcontractors with labor agreements (unions).

there was NEVER anything that required federal money to go to non-union companies only...
