What are your thoughts on this?

I've heard snippets here and there on this, but what is the collectives thoughts? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051100709638419.html

I can see it happen. Things aren't going to get better anytime soon and people are getting tired of the self serving government that we have to live with. Obviously voting doesn't help. You can write to your reps till you are blue in the face and they will still vote how they see fit. Some voting is so obvious that they are voting one way just because of party alliances, and not what is good for the people they 'serve'.

So am i paranoid and delusional or do others see this as an option?

Interesting read, but I don't put much faith in it. I could see something like that happening closer to the end of Obama's term, but this fall will be too soon. Most of the sheep will still be waiting for him to make everything "ok".

Dallas news reports Tony Romo tried to commit suicide last night!

Fortunately he dropped the gun and the bullet was intercepted!

I was thinking that if it did go down, it would be the results of one or two stimulus packages gone sour.

Khruschev said 50 years that the USSR would "hang the USA, and we would sell him the rope to do it". That one didn't turn out either.

Honestly, I think that China, Russia and the EU will do most anything to prop up the USA. Because if the USA fell, the whole world would be sucked into a depression that might exceed the 1929 one. However, monetary instability may cause everyone to agree on one world currency. Evangelist will LOVE that one!

I've heard this crap before, I remember back in 1979, everyone talked in whispers about a US monetary collapse.....didn't happen.

I like how his prediction says nothing about how these states would be "acquired" by these foreign powers. In my opinion it is much more likely that southern states would form a union rather than have this crackpot scenario unfold.

As an afterthought, five years ago I NEVER heard anything about a "revolution".

Now you can hear discussion on it every single day. You see it here, I hear it at work, from friends, from random people. Now we're seeing it in other countries news publications as well?

I'm starting to not feel like some kind of fucking nutcase for stockpiling guns and ammo...

Well you really are not a nutcase, I do believe it was George Washington who said “Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth.”
And liberty is what we are losing everyday, regardless of which party has control, The Liberal Neo-Conservatives or the Liberals, the American people are losing the fight.
One day, we will have to bear our teeth (firearms), and we will have to fight for that liberty which we are so rightfully promised by our Constitution. And I pray when that day comes, every American citizen will understand that they have become so lax in their ideals and standards that it has allowed our government to created a near police state. And I hope that every government official can see what they have allowed this great nation to digress to because of their failed polices.

Ron Paul is the only politician who seems to have any understanding of anything.
Read his book, Revolution: A Manifesto. Greatest book I own.

hence the reason the Eurodollar was created, to replace the american dollar in the world trade market. As was stated, if the US economy collapses then the rest of the world follows. That can be avoided by removing the dollar from the equation and gives europe back full power and control.

Afterall, who gives a shit about the US? They dont need us right? This is the reason i lean more toward protectionism and isolationism in the US. Its either us or them, they arent our friends no matter what they say except for maybe the UK and australia.

Why we do business with fucking china is beyond me...they are communists bastards that thousands of americans died trying to stop. Now we do business with them that results in the destruction of america...awesome.

The trouble with doing something right the first time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

I think that the recent spread of the subprime crisis to countries overseas, and the current problems overseas countries are having now that americans aren't buying has disabused them of that notion. When the US gets a cold, the world gets the flu.

Pretty damn good analogy. Our economy hiccups, and the rest of the world goes down the shitter. Some years ago when the Japanese were hurting badly, we were like,"No shit? Kinda rough over there, huh?"
