Iraq - Quick Bits from a Non-media Perspective

http://www.defenselink.mil/home/features/iraq_reports/ All things can be had from there. Of course, all is not PERFECT but now that there is not guts all over the place our beloved media does not want to cover ANYTHING in Iraq (much less Afghanistan). Not that they EVER covered any of the good stuff.

(Also for AL members, it is in the latest magazine)

Anyway a few quick highlights...

Civilian Deaths - Down 77 percent from the same time in 2007

Over violence down 50 percent

73 percent of Iraqis consider their neighboorhood "calm"

75 percent say they feel safe

91 percent say security is the same or better than the previous six months

Iraqi economy is up 8 percent in '08

Oil production is up 400,000 barrels (dunno total)

12 percent increase in electrical power

Inflation is down

US presence is down fro 20 brigades to 15. (not sure if I find this good news or not.)

That's just a highlights from 1 report. Tons more going on that is good. A lot of US folks (Military and Civilian) are working hard to make it work over there and the good gets no media time.

Yup, cause clearly it was him and the DOD doing it all while Bush just relaxed. I'll never understand why Bush looks all wore out with Barry doing all his work.

Kinda like the media that did not report that several bases were hit on inauguration day. Don't wont to spoil Barry's big day.

You can't fix stupid, but you can vote it out.

I got the report... about 200 yards from me! LOL

I was in the dining facility, eating floor tile just after Biden was sworn in. I have the shit-stained boxers to prove it.

This was kind of a big-un. Not only that, but it's the closest anything has fallen next to me since 2005. I must be getting old. LOL

The Today show finally did a postive story about Iraq. Thank God Obama has cleared things up enough to allow them to do so.

Violence is so low, the have cut patrols, they are even taking Sundays off. For the Super Bowl, they allowed them two beers each.

We have Obama to thank. He has somehow brought out the positives in stories that were once doom and gloom.

Yea, thank God Obama voted for "the surge" and didn't try to withhold funding from the troops to make a political statement.
