Exclamation Bill introduced that will outlaw Nitrous

This bill is introduced that will not allow cars with a Nitrous set up to pass inspection.

The bill reads:
Quote:
(d) An inspection station or inspector may not issue an
inspection certificate for a vehicle equipped with:
(1) a carburetion device permitting the use of
liquefied gas alone or interchangeably with another fuel, unless a
valid liquefied gas tax decal issued by the comptroller is attached
to the lower right-hand corner of the front windshield of the
vehicle on the passenger side; [or]
(2) a sunscreening device prohibited by Section
547.613, except that the department by rule shall provide
procedures for issuance of an inspection certificate for a vehicle
exempt under Section 547.613(c); or
(3) a device that allows nitrous oxide to combine with
gasoline for the purpose of increasing engine power, except the
certificate may be issued if:
(A) the vehicle is en route to or from a track
where the vehicle is used for racing and the device is inoperative;
or
(B) the container of nitrous oxide has been
removed from the vehicle.
Follow the bill here: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillL...81R&Bill=HB740

These bills are nothing more than the same thing they try to do with guns . You get a few stories about some dumb fuck street racing with NAWZ and kills someone . All of the sudden , its the nitrous to blame not the fucking retard street racing in a neighborhood or a busy highway .

It looks pretty simple. Just remove the bottle before you get it inspected.

Bullshit! They need not worry about things like this and impose more control. How about focus on reducing taxes, slowing immigration, ending welfare, and all the other real problems we face?

i would imagine that the nitrous companies out there would have a big issue with this, but even it does pass...just remove the bottle and you shouldn't have a problem getting an inspection.

I suspect that as a follow on (if it's not already there in the original bill) they'll pass another measure that will allow you to get a ticket if you get pulled over and the cop finds a nitrous bottle, or a nitrous setup. In some states they already have a law like this.

Its not legal to have nitrous bottle in your car right now . They consider it transporting a hazardous material without the proper permits / license .

It has to be over a certain weight in order for that to apply. You need a lot more than 10 lbs.

That might be true . I am not sure what the stipulations are on it . I do know people have received tickets for it but not sure if they were dropped once going to court on it .

you're also supposed to have a certain amount of tread left on your tires and stop in a certain distance, and have all your lights working, and your tint is supposed to be clear as mud...

basically it's left to the discretion of a grease monkey.

how many truckers run are running propane?

propane isn't an oxidizer, it's a fuel. and a burn catalyst.

I agree with the control getting to be too much. That's bullshit.

Outside of that mount it in the trunk. Inspectors can't open the trunk, nor can they take anything apart.

I don't have an exact count but I bet there are more trucks on the road with propane than there are cars with nitrous. *Note* I don't consider anything with less than 4.6L of engine displacement with nitrous as a car.

who really goes to get their car inspected with a full bottle hooked up to their car? as I read the proposed bill there is a clear exception: (B) the container of nitrous oxide has been
removed from the vehicle.

of course I am sure it has happened, some dip shit taking his car to get it inspected leaves the bottle on, then claims the kid inspecting the car blew his engine, playing with the nitrous, sues the states inspection office.
