I know they have done this with city workers also. How stupid do they have to be to go to the same bar, at the same time, everyday?

They are union so I bet nothing happens to them, other than they have to find a new place.

The one I remember about city workers was after hours in the company parking lot. That and those guys made $12-$18 an hour, not $45-$75.

There have been a few classic car owners that have found empty beer cans in their vents that apparently came off the assembly line when they were restoring their car.

Dealerships have techs that do PDIs for this very reason. It's really awesome when the bed flies off of a new Silverado on the way to the gas station

I saw a new silverado out on an apparent test drive (we lived near a chevy dealer at the time). It was blowing clouds of smoke out of the tailpipe. Good quality there.

I was working for Gene Messer ford in amarillo at that time. The car was brought in by an older couple that said the rattling was driving them crazy on the way to the store. The pill bottle was tucked up inbetween the fender and inner fenderwell close to the door.

Never did find anything while doing PDI's. Just slapped the hubcaps on, screw the antenna down, check fluids and for leaks and off to a test drive.

You'd be suprised at some of the shit that got shipped down the line. I hope none of you guys ever have to take the steering box loose from the frame on a Caprice because I know there are several thousand out there with about 500 ft. lbs. of torque on the three bolts that hold it on.

Pfft...creatures of habit. They hadn't been caught or investigated before so why should they change?

I worked for a place where one of the HR people and some members of the shop floor were in cahoots embezzling money from the company by putting in false OT hours. Dumb asses were so entrenched in doing it that when corporate mandated no OT, they kept doing it. They were caught when management checked into why there was OT when there should have been none.

Yeah, the guy probably ran out but the person whose job it was to resupply him was at the bar drinking. Heaven forbid he stop the line or even worse do another union members job.

My personal favorite was a Silverado missing all 8 spark plugs. Meaning they had to actually push it on the transporter. That or the ones where they never torqued the rear axle bolts, locking the e-brake up and dropping the driveshaft.

We did a lowering kit on a brand new Chevy back in early 2000 . The truck only had 300 miles on it . When I slid under it to check things out , there was a bunch of shit writen on the frame . It said stuff like if you bought this truck you got fucked . I called the guy up and he came over . I showed him all the stuff and he got pissed off . He called the dealership that sold him the truck thinking they were the ones who wrote it . Come to find out , they did it on the assembly line at GM .

He should have raised hell at the dealership, their PDI guy should have caught that. If they didn't even bother to lift it up how did they check the undercarriage bolts?
