Only time will tell.

Hey I was only wrong by 3k pts and sorry for being optimistic. But seriously, I'm a half glass full, kind of guy so I always hope for the best. I will admit when I posted that comment business on the railroad was still up for the year by about 7% at that time. Today it is down week by week from last year, but overall business is flat or up .02% if you want to get technical. On the railroad we normally get an idea of what things will be like 3 to 6 months down the road because we ship raw materials and it takes that much time to be made into finished goods. Right now our top brass claim business will hold steady with last years levels and probably won't began to pick up at the earliest until either spring of next year or late next year. That being said, every railroad in America is posting record profits even though business is flat or down a bit.

The main point everyone was arguing with you then, is that you kept telling people the railroad was an indication of the economy's future status, we were telling you that you were full of shit, that they are no where near as related as you think, and were laughing at you for thinking so.

Turns out, you WERE full of shit, and yet, you still keep committing about how the railroad is doing this, that, etc., and that you can somehow predict the economy from it.

Stevo

Plenty of people on here offer up their opinions on the market and certain stocks. Sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. To over look the railroads when viewing the economy is like over looking the AutoMakers and the Financial Districts. Certain industries are heavy hitters and to say the RailRoads have no bearing on the economy's future is stupid. My point was you can look at what the railroads are shipping and get an idea of how things will look a few months down the road. Do you think car frames just magically appear in Detriot?Even the most seasoned financial guys on this board have posted countless times how great of a buy DRYS is. That stock has went from over $100 a share to $3 a share since it was first mentioned on this board.
