Exxon/Mobil Posts Record 14Billion Profit...

they broke their previous record of 11.6 billion! i'm glad to see that they weren't affected too much by the lower oil prices and lower demand.

Don't worry, Obama will take it and spread it around.

They also pay an average of $27 Billion in taxes a year; which they will pay more this year since they have made more money. $27 billion in taxes that get passed down to us, the consumer!

The quarter reported was July, August and September. Prices were still pretty high for most of the quarter. I bet profits are down 30-40% next reporting quarter.

They also reiterated their 25 billion dollar capital and exploration budget for 2008 today.

Good! I'm sure they spend almost as much time trying to bury profit as they do counting it.

They also mentioned that refining operations helped them keep their income high. That won't happen next quarter with no hurricanes. I think this may be the highest income XOM has for quite a while and if you look at the price of their options I think a lot of people agree.

A large portion of that money is going straight back into the company.
