U.S. refuses Israel weapons to attack Iran

http://uk.reuters.com/article/worldN...44338120080813

Quote:
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The United States has turned down Israeli requests for military hardware to help it prepare for a possible attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, a frontpage report in Israel's Haaretz newspaper said on Wednesday.

The unsourced report said the Americans had warned Israel against carrying out any such attack and had refused to supply offensive military hardware. Instead they had offered to improve the Jewish state's defences against surface-to-surface missiles.

Interviewed on Israeli Army Radio, Defence Minister Ehud Barak did not deny the Haaretz story, but refused to discuss it. "It would not be right to talk about these things," Barak said.

The West accuses Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies this and says its nuclear programme is only to generate electricity. It has vowed to retaliate against Israel and the United States if attacked.

Israel, which is believed to have the Middle East's only atomic arsenal, says a nuclear-armed Iran could threaten its existence.

The Haaretz report, by one of its senior columnists, did not specify what weapons systems Israel had requested. It said Washington had told Israel its aircraft would be denied permission to use Iraqi airspace to reach Iran.

Barak said Iran was a "threat to the whole world order, and there are many actions to be made in the realm of intelligence and preventive measures".

He said the United States "does not see an action against Iran as the right thing to do at the moment", but shared Israel's view that "no option should be removed from the table".

The United States said last week that Iran, by ignoring demands that it halt sensitive nuclear activities, had left the U.N. Security Council no choice but to increase sanctions.

I think this is good, we dont need our military in Iraq caught directly between 2 nuclear powers at war. and if they want to go to war, then let them do it on their own and pay for it themselves.

Brilliant assessments from the usual suspects.

so if they vow to attack us if the program is hit, why the hell not support the israelis anyway, since we are gonna be targeted for reprisals no matter what we say. They want us to not have a hand in this, then they shouldnt blanket say "its the US"

I wonder how much tech is going to "fall off the back of a truck" to Israel in the next coming months.

Yep, I wouldn't doubt that this is just a political move/statement but we still end up giving them some tools to help get the job done.

Just a little misdirection going on . You can bet your ass the U.S. will provide Israel with the tools they need to fuck Iran up . They just don't want the whole world to know about it right now .

Even with permission from the US and Iraq to use air space , what about the other countries they must go through to get there ?

I'm going to have front row seats to this shit...

This is just a planned ploy to show we're not involved. Israel and the US got together to make a public statement about us not giving them anything more, but they already have more than they need. Trust me... WHEN Israel strike Iran, if they need anything (which I doubt), they'll get it from us. We're already taking measure for this to go down.
