Solving the energy crisis: You decide
As Americans grapple with record oil and gas prices, politicians facing angry voters have offered up a variety of solutions. Tell us what you think.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) -- President Bush says he's using his last six months in office to push new energy plans that include electricity from coal.

Reliable sources of electricity must be part of a strong economy, and "there is no more reliable source of electricity than coal," Bush said in a speech Thursday to the West Virginia Coal Association gathered at The Greenbrier Resort.

He said promoting a variety of energy sources will be part of the "sprint to the finish" he plans for his presidency.

Coal should be part of the solution to reduce dependence on foreign oil, he said, adding that the United States has 250 years of coal reserves that leave the country "in good shape."

After the speech, Bush went to Kennebunkport, Maine, for a long weekend with his family.

While I do agree w/ their energy prod. plan, it's France were talking about here.

I was showing both for a comparison. Barry does NOT want nuclear energy, but look at the ratio of our nuclear energy vs. France.

I'm ALL about nuclear energy. If we can put a sub under water for years and years we can make nuclear energy our primary source and get away from coal.

I may have found a loophole. Didn't we have nuke plants before France?

I have to agree. The frenchies are the best at nuclear power. They have the cheapest electricity in Europe and export electricity.

We're like the Saudi Arabia of coal and there's plenty of scrubbing technology to clean it up...so...why the heck not?

Frankly, I'd like nuclear, too, but if coal gets the job done faster, so be it. Seems like it'd be relatively easy to switch a plant from gas to coal vs gas to nuclear.

Thats because the damn EPA wont let us recycle. They are the main reason why energy of all types cost more.

You can't fix stupid, but you can vote it out.

I dont see what the problem is. The liberals are too worried about hurting the enviroment to do any offshore drilling, so Bush is coming up with other ideals and means to produce energy. Sounds like he's doing his job, and trying to offer a solution to our problem. He's doing alot more than the majority of the dems.

Btw, coal has been a source of energy for many years. I have no problem with going old school.
