Exclamation Michigan asking for assistance for big 3

This seems like bullshit to me; the big 3 are big boys and should accept the outcome of the decisions that they have made in the past for good or bad. If they fucked it up then too bad. Why should the taxpayers be forced to pay for their mismanagement?

I'd like to see the American automakers succeed just as much as the next guy, but they've got to take responsibility for their own fuckups.

I'm getting really old of this new rhetoric the government is preaching about bailing everyone out; that's not what this country is.

Did I miss the part where 'any' became a verb?

I didn't see them once offer to share their profits over the last century. Why should the tax payer have to cover their loses. For those that claim paying taxes is sharing profits give me a brake. I doubt they pay their fair share as it is. Most large business's find all kinds of loop holes to get out of paying taxes.

You're kidding, right?
Do some fucking searching, and see how much money those automakers have given to charities.

With that said, i still don't support government bail out of an automaker who dug their own suv/big truck grave.

Charitable donations are the most noble kind of write offs. Don't think for one second that the big 3 doesn't use questionable loop holes in the tax laws in order to save them millions in tax dollars. They have teams of tax lawyers working for them. This goes for any large corporation.

If a loophole exists, why not use it? It's stupid business sense not to.

I think you guys might be onto something with this loophole talk. We better contact our congressmen, I bet they had no clue this type of tomfoolery was going on.

You can make charitable donations for write-offs as well; they simply do it in $30 million increments, which makes for a much bigger tax write off.

Charitable stock donations are where it's at for a tax break. That shit is ridiculous...I used to wonder why I always saw tons of requests to donate stock to churches, non-profits, etc roll across my desk every late December with "URGENT, MUST BE DONE IMMEDIATELY" notes on them. Don't think for one second that there are that many guys just being good guys out there.

I do wonder, with whom should a corporation be expected to share their profits?

I beleive a corporation should keep all their profits and their loses to themselves. Can't get any simplier than that.

The people, of course! Who cares if they're running a business? My family is entirely unemployed and our average weight is close to that of an NFL offensive line's. I need to feed my fatass family!

Based on the dismal economic status of Michigan, I'd say his call is a veiled cry for help for the entire state.

1/19/09, the last day of Free America.
Pericles "Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it. "

"[T]he people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government and to reform, alter, or totally change the same when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it." --Samuel Adams

The central bank of England is making a straight up loan to the investment houses it wants to bail out. Why not work it that way? When your business turns around, pay the taxpayers back. If your business fails, it'll be chopped up and sold, but the taxpayers will be paid back.

Give me a dollar.

Because that is horseshit. I am not in the business bailout business.

I'm a Ford shareholder and I am against any of this nonsense. Let them solve their own problems.

I'm with you, Al. It is definitely horseshit, but if they're going to do it, why not cover it somehow?

Give me a dollar.
