National City Bank shares halted this morning

Quote:
National City shares were briefly halted Monday amid a panic-driven plunge before the company in a statement tried to quell what it called market rumors. "National City is experiencing no unusual depositor or creditor activity," the Cleveland-based bank said. Still, investors shrugged off the news and the shares were off more than 25% at last check.

No good. If investers are loosing confidence of the banking system we may be in for a world of hurt.

Wamu is also in trouble, down 33% today on news that they could face losses of $26 billion which is going to be interesting because the federal reserve's balance sheets are currently at $20 billion not counting the $15 billion in aid to FNM and FRE.

WAMU looks bad, I think there are going to be several regional bank failures and maybe 1 or 2 national bank failures, WAMU might be one of them

Don't tease me! I'm sure they will just sell the note like everyone else does. It's a 5.65, 30 year note, so they're not getting any bargain.

My nephew thought he was getting a free house when Conseco went under, that is until 6 months later when the new lien holder started eviction proceedings.
