The US uses about 20 million barrels of oil a day. That is equal to 116 trillion btus each day. That is 43,000,000,000 Kilo-watt hours or 43,000,000 Mega-watt hours. Where do we get that kind of power?
Texas Comanche Peak plant has two reactors netting 1084 MW and 1124 MW, 2208MW combined. So, we would need 812 Comanche Peak plants to replace using oil.
Spectrolab, a Boeing company, has the NeXt Triple Junction solar panels that produce 370W/m˛. Using 8 hours of sun light for the calculation, we need 14,527 km˛ of solar panels to replace oil usage. The Dallas Fort Worth metroplex is about 24,000 km˛, so about little more than half the size is needed.
The largest wind generator is the E-126. It produces about 7 MW. Only 255,953 of those generators are needed to replace oil.
The same queer-ass environmentalists are the ones that dont want nuclear reactors and think that the wind generators will kill birds and should not be used.
