New scenario for the bitch
No formal pullback. Republicans off their guard, being 1) not overly supportive of McCain and 2) seeing a DNC in chaos. Massive write-in campaign in FL for clinton, which is geared to start a groundswell and attempt to get CA.
With Florida, it is doubtful either of the boys make 270. With CA it is impossible. With ANY electoral vote she is #3 and on the runoff ticket, and that can be decided by only one elector in certain states. Lets assume something close enough to deny 270 to anyone, so we go to the house.
In the house, McCain gets the advantage of most of the lame ducks, and with any kind of october surprise launched against obama, Hilary becomes a player. She needs only 17 votes. Depending on the results of the electoral college, some may be swayed one way or the other, and she can only gain, not lose from this (by this time the whole process is in chaos and the spin will be enough to put a large SUV into orbit.
Now, this is all possible, but maybe not plausible. And the thing is, it applies to any write-in, of which there are some supporters of various write-in pushes already; Paul, Bloomberg, Gore for instance.
The RNC did this to themselves. Effectively dropping the RKBA hardline stance from the start in favor of religious bullshit sealed it. They now have to sweat turnout from uninspired RKBA-first voters. They don't have the broken glass republicans that they had in 2000 & 2004. At least I don't think so. Which should have been entirely avoidable.
Just my observation. I still think Obama-Richardson will pull 300 electors though, but short of a Gore or some other cult figure McCain has the slim advantage.
