We're gonna sue 'em!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080520/...ngress_opec_dc

this is going to fix everything. i can only hope that all of the "speculators" decide to move their money from oil to something else, just because they don't know what is going to happen. it's going to take a big wave to get oil back to a reasonable price, though.

I dont see this getting us anywhere.

I saw that this morning myself. WTF are they thinking? It reminds me of when the Air Traffic Controller's went on an illegal strike to threaten the Great Ronnie Reagan...and he fired every fucking one of them.

Drug companies prices are killing us...let's sue them!
Farmers growing corn for ethanol are causing food prices to soar...let's sue them!

If we drill in ANWAR who benefits from the production? I don't mind knocking a few moose in the head but we (the majors anyway) claim we have no more refining capacity.

Talk is cheap because supply exceeds demand!

Even without refining, adding oil into the market would still affect the price. Our refineries are running about 82% right now, so there's still some room.

Then let's do it. If they're going to send it over seas to the highest bidder then fuck em in their capitalist ass.

Man, we're staring $130 a barrel in the face right now. I would imagine they would keep it here, and chop that 15% we bring in from the middle east. At least we could stop relying on that tit...

we should build refineries in Mexico and just haul it up here... Not like the Mexicans care about their environment.

Mexico nationalized PEMEX and is in the process of running it into the ground due to incompetence and lack of reinvestment (Venezuela is also on the same track). Sooner or later they will be forced to bring in outside capital/companies to rebuild their infrastructure. Hopefully the US politicians will recognize an opportunity when they see it, and will work a deal with mexico that is in the US's interest.

And I agree with black01gt, oil produced in the US needs to stay in the US.

I would hold my opinion on this to see what happpens; however, I think we need to drill in ANWAR build about 5 new refineries, stop buying any oil from any foriegn countries and watch the price of oil on the world market drop to record lows, LOL. Then have OPEC sign a 200 year oil deal at low prices, etc.

No shit! I was talking to a buddy of mine who lives in Guadalajara about it recently, and PEMEX is one fucked up entity.

right now there is a glut of oil . we have more gas on hand this summer than last couple of years. one new refinery would do wonders but what would it do to prices. they are charging the hell out of us because china, india and other fast past countries are crying for it. face it we are just getting screwed and nobody in dc has any balls. bush cant do shit unless congress goes along and those old bastards are building wealth off of oil. let a dem get in there and we are totally screwed. jmho
