Immigration quote

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant
who comes here in good faith becomes an American and
assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact
equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate
against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or
origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in
every facet an American, and nothing but an American ...
There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says
he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American
at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English
language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that
is a loyalty to the American people.'

If one loves his country of origin or ethnicity so much that he should celebrate in public another countries independence and display their flag then they need to go back to their beloved country. I am sick of Bilingual classes in our schools and Special treatment based on race or religion. Certain members of government and government agencies think these people deserve pampering which I can only assume is in trade for votes or justifies the fleecing of us in the middle class. What do you think would happen to me if I was to recite the pledge in German, The ACLU would crucify me because someone in the crowd would be offended but its okay if I was to do it in Spanish. I have said it once and I will again

It's too bad that a good portion of this country doesn't place any value on sentiment and true patriotism. Quotes like that are relics of the past, unfortunately.

Sounds good to me preach it brother......the post about getting votes is our major cause. Delegates care about making people happy to get more votes, not keeping America great. Since the illegal immagration from Mexico has gotten way out of hand delegates have to appeal to these voter's and thus America has drastically changed since the 50's. For most patriotism is a thing of the past, hell take myself for example I have way more patriotism for Texas than the US. Texas just happens to be inside the US.

I've grown up around illegals at a feasable number my entire life in West Texas. There was NEVER the ridiculous notion that they would cost the taxpayers money or be entitled to demand rights. They knew as well as we did that if half of their damned country came here...everybody loses. We become like Mexico. A few have mucho dinero but most are scrambling to get by. Hell they can have that life at home. Why bring it here?

Either way, if they're illegal, they should also know they shouldn't be here.

I agree. And they do. But there's no down side for em. Nothing but opportunity with little risk involved.

Best quote ever.
