VP Rice

ABCNews’ Mary Bruce Reports: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is actively courting the Vice Presidential nomination, according to Republican Strategist Dan Senor. “Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this,” Senor said this morning on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”
McCain - Rice ticket, hmmmm. I would be more excited about Rice - McCain ticket.

Booo. I'd rather see Powell on either side of the ticket.

It doesn't matter who it is. I have chosen the winner over a year ago, they should just stop wasting money.

Black and female? Game. Set. Match.

Pericles "Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it. "

"[T]he people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government and to reform, alter, or totally change the same when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it." --Samuel Adams

Kinda what I was thinking. But, it will throw the hardcore Southern Democrats into a tizzy. Wanna bet there are some "old timers" that sit this one out? On one side, we have African American and female, and the other side, we have whitey, plus African American AND female.....

Shit I can't find it now, but I was halfway joking at the time about an Obama Richardson ticket taking it all. They could pull Florida and Texas both, I think (unfortunately IMO).

Very much so. Dixiecrats are already in a bind having to choose between a black man and a white woman. McCain could actually get a boost from this segment, although I think it would really only cause a lower turnout and not a switchover.

...and no mention of who's best qualified to lead the country. Not that any of these 3 or 4 stooges are IMO. Quite the contest ain't it? And affirmitive action at work. Speaking of old timers sitting this one out...

BTW, can anyone tell me what makes Condi qualified to be VP. I know she was a professor and dean at Stanford and directed a large budget...a kiss ass appointee for Bush #41, was on the Board of Directers for Chevron...oh...never mind.

She has been smart enough not to let a man send her into blazing sniper fire?

The qualifications are in the US constitution.

In 1974, at age 19, Rice earned her BA in political science, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Denver. In 1975, she obtained her Master's Degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame. She first worked in the State Department in 1977, during the Carter administration, as an intern in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In 1981, at the age of 26, she received her PhD in Political Science from the Graduate School of International Studies at Denver.

Rice was a Democrat until 1982 when she changed her political affiliation to Republican after growing averse to former President Jimmy Carter's foreign policy.

She also cited influence from her father, John Wesley, in this decision, who himself switched from Democrat to Republican after being denied voting registration by the Democratic registrar.

Unlike Obama, she grew up in the deep south, as opposed to Hawaii. I would be more comfortable knowing her stand on several issues, and being tied in with Bush directly may hurt the ticket altogether. I do like her and respect her.
