Question Very interesting outlook on mideast policy making practices of yore...

Anybody ever seen "The History of Oil" by comedian Robert Newman? This guy will turn your views on their head while making you laugh. This is the politician of the future! Kidding, but this portion of the video raised several question marks in my head regarding the US-led coup on Mossadeq's elected office years ago. It also introduced a few more questions to me on other matters regarding the nature of U.S. foreign policy on other fronts as well.

It's a pretty interesting video, though I think it's cut into several parts. Nonetheless it provides a differing perspective on matters of increasing importance. Let me know what you guys think--not just about this portion, but of the rest of the video too...

I watched the videos. I enjoyed the presentation. British guys are pretty good at mixing comedy, politics, and satire.

My quick summary:

Oil is the beginning and end of the industrial nations.

There is taboo for the political class and the news media to mentioning the economic reasons for war.

WWI was started to prevent Germany from obtaining oil from the Ottoman Empire through the Baghdad Railway.

The Gulf War II was started to stop Iraq from switching from dollars to euros in oil, and to prevent Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela from doing the same.

Oil resources will peek between the years 2006 and 2010, thus the worlds oil fields need to be military objective.

My chain of event summary:

Beginning of industrial nations ----- coal to oil ----- oil found in Middle East ----- OPEC and US dollar ----- oil and Federal Reserve banks ----- Fed and US dept ----- oil peaks ----- world economies collapse ----- no oil then no mass food production ----- End of industrial nations

My conclusion:

Kicking Arab and Persian ass for oil is a vital part of our national interest and security.
