Dems are in

Looks like the Dems will control the senate and the house for the first time since '94. I'm not happy, but I do wish them luck and success. The country has decided to give someone else a chance, and maybe it's time.

As a huge gun collector, buyer, shooter, etc. There's much more important things to worry about in a country as a whole over firearms.

Will gun laws and restrictions go through a huge change? More than likely, but guns wont be going anywhere soon.

I'm not worried about gun control. The majority of the new Dems are fairly conservative. Several a pro gun. There is even speculation that some of them won't support Polosi for Majority Leader.

Also, the Democrats don't have a veto proof majority. No anti gun legislation is getting through.

Oh, one last thing about Gun Control.

The Assault weapons ban was one of the biggest issues that caused the Republicans to sweep into power back in '94.

Not true. Look at California, the Dems took guns from honest people of that state.

God help us all...

Country-wide, more people voted straight ticket Democrat than any other party nad it was a BIG difference in the outcome. This just goes to show that this is just a knee-jerk reation to the disapproval of the current Administration (just like 2004). People were voting with emotion and not focused in aon each and every case.

I personally am not happy with a Democrat majority. Just from history, it seems that the two parties vote certain ways"

Democrats vote for what they want done.
Republicans vote for what should be done.

In the past, it wasn't as much of an issue... more like personal preference. These days, there's way too many issues that arise that can easily throw this world upside down. This country, excuse me, this whole world has been walking on egg shells the past 5-6 years and we just but on our clown shoes!

I see this as a victory for people like terrorist too. It's just a matter of time before we get our next Democrat in the President's Office. After that, we'll see who does the pushing.

I had a nightmare a couple of years ago that Nancy Pelosi would be Speaker of the House. Sadly it looks like that just may happen. The only thing worse than this would be having Hillary as the president.

It might be time to buy that banana farm in Belize pretty soon.

Jesus Christ... are you part of the Bush administration? Overreaction much?

I don't think the Dems being in control is going to have much of an impact. And I'm sure the next President will be more of a centrist as opposed to all of the far right or far left loonies we've been dealing with.

Think what you want, but I guarantee that Democrats will back down from a threat before Republicans (generally speaking). Like it or not; what we've done in Iraq and Afghanistan has aided in taking as much of a threat away from our soil as well as, if not better than anything else that could have been done. It's also saved the lives of an uncountable number of people in their own countries. I thank those "loonies" for what HASN'T happened since 9/11... although, the typical Left-hind sight vision is always superior Nothing else was going to happen anyway, right?

By the way, since September 11th, there's never such a thing as over reaction. People that think that way are the ones that usually fall victim.

I don't typically live in a state of "pants-shitting" fear, but I am ALWAYS aware. I would rather over-react, than not react at all...

I hope they do what they did when they had power last time. Not a Dam thing. I hope the economy continues to build and they don't decide on new taxes to support thier socialist programs. Dam, time to invest in kevlar. How long has it been since the last U.S. consulate was bombed?

I hope they invest in remedial education

I like what I saw around the country: Voting for increases in minimum wage, shooting down radical abortion legislation, shooting down AA legislation.

Well, when it began, it was a great plan that assisted this country in utilizing it's most valuable resourse (the people... all of them). It's not an issue today and now people are just using it to get a free "in."

That's what I thought you meant, but I didn't hear anything about it. Unless you are talking about that Kentucky thing to protect selected sexual preferences over others. Not really affirmative in my book. But I don't think it passed.

Not an issue today? I happen to know a lot about AA and it's apparent to me that you don't. There are very rare circumstances where you'll find that a free "in" for a minority is as a result of their minority status.
