New York Times photographer right there as they tried to kill American troops

New York Times photographer Joao Silva was right there in the room as a member of Muqtada al-Sadr’s “Mahdi Army” tried to kill American troops

Gotta love Americans snapping photos of terrorists trying to kill other Americans.

Yeah, everything is cool, until they get both eyes burned out with a blowtorch. Then it's "we're just the press trying to get both sides of the story" bullshit. How about one of these camera crews carry in a .40 cal, and dust off one of these pricks...now THAT would be a story!

IMO, that picture is evidence of treason. Publishing that picture is lending help and comfort to the enemy. The photographer should be shot.

There are some people in the USA that are hoping that the US losses in Iraq. If we were loosing 100s of soldiers a day, they would be gleeful.

And those are the people who should be tried for treason...or just taken out to one of the many open fields in their respective states and shot...2 in the chest, 1 in the head.

No ammo casings on the floor? He's a sniper but sticks his eye right up to the scope?

The shot looks posed to me and if he's like the rest of their "snipers" he's doing more harm than good to his group because he's not hitting anything and is only giving away their position.

If it is real then he probably had a Javelin missile shoved up his ass within a couple of minutes of hitting his first target.

Do you think the snipers there have proper training on how to shoot a rifle like that? Doubtful, though some are going to Iran for training and filtering back in to Southern Iraq. When shooting an M-16 the best way to get a good aim is to put your nose right up against the charge handle...but don't know about a sniper rifle.

If the photographer is indeed an american i agree. They could have purchased that photo though. Either way the editor of the paper needs tp be reprimanded.

Joao Silva is a Portuguese South African. Who I assume works for the New York Times not sure if it's free lance or not. Found this on him:

Hope he does not have Citizenship in the U.S.
